I think it's in my PLOG somewhere, but here's roughly how I do these:
.) Draw a 5x5" grid on a 3mm piece of MDF, egregiously mixing imperial and metric measurements.
.) Take a craft knife and metal ruler and deeply score the lines.
.) Take a narrow flathead screwdriver and score the lines again.
.) Prime black with rattlecan.
.) Take a sponge and liberally dab dark brown paint (I use the store-brand from a local crafts shop)
.) While this is still semi-wet dab again with orange, concentrating on the center of the squares.
.) Wash (I use a self-made dirt wash made from the same brown and orange paint mixed with water and dish washing liquid)
.) With a big round drybrush, brush and stipple with GW Iron Warrior to your heart's content, again concentrating more on the centers, but generally going all-over.
.) Wash again.
.) Profit!
