    What's on your mind?

It's hard to beat Frostgrave as a starter game: very straightforward rules, uncomplicated dice mechanics, and small model count... It is a rare case where you can have "fast, cheap, and good." Mordheim is another option. The rules are free online, pretty cheap to get going with whatever...

    Mr. M's Miniature Mayhem

It's Apple Barrel paint, finished with some enamel washes for detail. If you want to replicate it, it's: (1) prime with Rustoleum 2x matte black, (2) base coat with Apple Barrel pavement right out of the bottle, (3) layer on Apple Barrel pewter grey diluted only a very small amount with water...

    Mr. M's Miniature Mayhem

Well, it has been nearly impossible for me to find any kind of consistent hobby time, so I'll have to resign myself to (very) slow progress. Another ruined tower finished!

    Scratch building terrain supplies

I did a handful of larger resin pours using a 2-part epoxy "glaze coat" that I picked up from the hardware store. It's supposed to be for putting a durable glossy finish on countertops and the like. It is nice and thin for pouring and had zero shrinkage. Took color by mixing acrylic paint in...

    What's on your mind?

This is a story that's both fascinating and crazy from the founder of Wargames Atlantic. Nice that he's trying to make people whole from a failed kickstarter campaign from over 10 years ago! https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/news/a-note-from-the-founder-of-wargames-atlantic

    Mr. M's Miniature Mayhem

Another terrain piece finished! I colored the hazard stripes with pink, orange, and yellow acrylic inks. Then I splashed a homemade acrylic black wash (Apple Barrel matte black, Liquitex acrylic matte medium, burnt umber ink, and water) over the whole thing, and blotted it with paper towels...

    Scratch building terrain supplies

@MedMos Granny grating is really terrible to work with. Even hot glue doesn't really hold it very well unless you really flood it. When I tried using it, I ended up using epoxy to get it to stick securely. The real problem is that the scale is just off for 28mm/32mm figures, at least as...

    New models incoming

Wargames Atlantic looks like they have a nice set of religious weirdos that might be good to supplement a Cawdor/Redemptionist gang. A little pricey for 7 figures, though one of them is some kind of brute or robot. https://wargamesatlantic.com/products/trench-missionaries

    What's on your mind?

I was making 3-inch square tiles, so I made wood frames by gluing thick craft sticks/popsicle sticks (sometimes called tongue depressors) together with waterproof wood glue. I made 10 of these frames just to speed up the production process. I placed these frames on an old non-stick baking...

    What's on your mind?

That is a good observation! I tried rolling the GSW rollers over xps foam, and it does leave an impression - however the impression is very shallow. The pattern on the GSW rollers isn't deep enough or "sharp" enough to impress the foam very well. There are 3D printed rollers that seem to have...

    What's on your mind?

The whole board weighs quite a bit. Each of the air-dry clay tiles is pretty thin, so they don't weigh much on their own... but for a 4x4 table there are 256 total tiles so it definitely adds up! I think the main culprit for heaviness, though, is the mdf base that it is all build upon. Most...
