    N18 Beginners Question Box

No further consequence. All a Serious injury result does is change the target fighter's status to Seriously Injured. If they are already Seriously injured, nothing happens. I don't think it triggers a Nerve test either as it seems to happen only when the fighter becomes Seriously injured (i.e...

    N18 Starting with 3 champions

@Fyastarter: It's not in the newest books (House of ##### series), it was in the older books (GotU and The book of ##### series) The house gangs you are seeing are either built from GotU, or by people who kept the restriction in their local meta as a self-imposed limitation (or didn't realize it...

N18 Bi-directionally outside enemy 90° front arc (disarm, shield ++)

@JawRippa: LoS and Vision arc are separate in Neomunda. This just means a fighter may have LoS to another fighter who is outside their vision arc. The Vision arc thing does have implications for Shooting though, as you need both LoS and vision arc to pick a target (it makes it easier to game...

N18 Bi-directionally outside enemy 90° front arc (disarm, shield ++)

For a more recent example, this is from HoA: This mentions both melee attacks and a method to check whether the attacker is within a fighter's vision arc. (presumably, an attack originates from within a fighter's vision arc if and only if the attacker is within said fighter's vision arc)

N18 Bi-directionally outside enemy 90° front arc (disarm, shield ++)

Hmmm... it seems they can't attack each other at all in this situation, my bad. Declaring close combat targets use the same 'within their vision arc' wording so it seems you need to 'see' the centre of your target's base. That being said, it's also possible that FP was written with ranged...

N18 Bi-directionally outside enemy 90° front arc (disarm, shield ++)

Technically possible. They will happily backstab each other. I doesn't seem likely to happen in real life though, as the charging fighter will more often than not try to avoid getting backstabbed by their target.

    N18 Starting with 3 champions

Yes, this. House gangs built from Gangs of the Underhive can't have more than 2 champions in their starting roster, and the same is true for most gangs from The Book of #### series (except for Corpse Grinders who are capped at 3 both at gang creation and during the campaign.)

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

Depends on the context. In the above sentence it was not necessary. If you have a rule that currently states "Standing fighters can do <stuff>" then yes, you have to replace it with "Active or Engaged fighters can do <stuff>". Replacing "Standing and Active" with 'Active' (and doing the same...

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

When measuring to or from a Pinned or Seriously Injured fighter, assume that their base occupies the same space as it would if they were Active.

How confident are we that this NDA is the real thing?

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

They are more supertypes than subtypes. Originally, they were useful as shortcuts (i.e. you could use 'Standing' instead of 'Active or Engaged') but it kinda went out of the window for some reason in the N18 rewrite. I really don't get why they feel the need to write redundant stuff like...

    N18 Grave chutes and pinning

Imo, if you fall while Leaping a gap with a Grav-chute equipped , you shouldn't get Pinned (this is not terribly different from Jumping down). Sure, you misjudged the distance, but it's still a deliberate action so you have ample time to react, activate your Grav-chute and land on your feet...

    N18 Throwing grenades down

In Neomunda, grenades behave like any other weapons for measuring range.

N18 Forge Born w/ Storm Welder

Unstable is much more of an issue than Reckless. Assuming you always fire at full speed, your forge-born will have a 23% chance to commit suicide whenever they squeeze the trigger. This seems a bit risky even at the relatively low cost of 100 credits (no armour, vat born, terminal biology)

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

For the record, I agree with @Scabs that only Active fighters should be able to perform the Defile relic action and I think that's how you should play it going forward. What we disagree on is whether or not the actual written rules support that interpretion (they don't). @Nemaucheur: with the...

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

Page 50 it's stated that Engaged fighter can generally only fight or retreat. Even if you ignore this 'generally' (as page 59 admittedly does), the list is evidently not supposed to be exhaustive as some actions added later can explicitely be performed by an Engaged fighter (the aforementionned...

N18 Mission Sneak Attack and Action Defiling a Relic

Most actions granted by skills/gear or required to interact with terrain/scenario/intrigues/plot features do not specify from which status(es) they can be performed. I'd consider that as missing rules you need to somehow guess rather than a permission to use those actions from any status though...

Necromunda The Sump: An N17/N18++ venting thread (Beware:grumpy grognards)

Can't you just use the D18 tactics card table from the House of ### books for house gangs (and make up something similar if you want to import non-house gangs from a previous version of the rules)

N18 where are forgeborn and stimmers in the gang manager?

Did you create a Goliath (HoC) gang or a Goliath (GotU) one? New fighter types introduced in House of Chains are only available to the former.
