Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

Yes, I am, although there is one less layer of added metal sheets than in the virtual model, so it will show a bit more background color. I started with very dark gray for the background walls, but I will probably repaint that test wall using a lighter shade.

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

And Gork listened to my prayers! May Gork be praised! Tags for every one of us! (Except if you're a dirty grot. In that case, you get no tags. Stop wandering around and go back to the mine!) When I sculpted the base for the fort, I saved some large chunks of polystyrene for later (as I had no...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

I've used spray cans to melt polystirene before in order to create rock formations. It has usually worked really well. I will, however, test this new spray can on some polystirene rocks before applying it to the fort itself, since it's not the same can I used before. Thanks for the warning, and...

    Modular Ork Fort Terrain WIP

great work! judging from your pics, id'd say my fort is only sightly taller than yours. The gates of my fort are really really tiny (in fact, I fear I will find out ork trukks don't fit when I get my vehicles, currently at a friend's house) I really like the fact that your fort is made with...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

Thanks a lot! Thanks! I also started a thread about this project in Dakadakka, but It seems they have no love for GorkaMorka, so I finally came to the right place to share my progress and Ideas! I'd be glad to follow your advances and plans to build your own fort! (and that WaterWorld Atoll is...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

He has already shown his discomfort with the lack of space. He has decided he really likes the cardboard walls as teeth cleaners, however... And while he can't curl inside, he is willing to step into the fort and leave a lot of cat hair inside... I hope that won't be a problem with painting...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

And it's going up! just the main walls, witch will, in the future, be partially covered by layers of cardboard and rivets. And more, and more! This week was pretty good. I'm not working during three weeks, so I can devote extra time to it. I barelly use the computer anymore, just build...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

I'm using cardboard because that's what I had lying around. Several 70*100cm sheets of 1mm thick cardboard. Two of them should be enough. I'm adding some corrugated cardboard to the mix too. lets say it's vertically modular but a single piece horizontal-wise :D

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

To be honest, I decided against making it modular because of the time it would take me to redesign the model to include clear lines to cut the model in two to four pieces. I still have some doubts regarding how to dissassemble the nob quarters and such, so I might still make it able to stand on...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

Making it modular would not be an easy task at all! I do have some experience with modular designs, since I designed and built a resin cast, modular cityscape for 40k whith storeys that could be removed to manipulate miniatures inside the building It's much harder to build such a system with...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

Thanks for the kind words! I plan to stack the modules one on top of another, using the irregular ork platting to hold them in position. As I am familiar with computer assisted drawing and building information modelling software, I decided some time ago to invest some of my lunch time at my job...

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

The plan is to make it a solid base, and then having each storey being a removable piece so one can access easily to miniatures in lower levels. I have some ideas about how to make them fit in place.

Glorius Gork! Designing and building an Ork Fort.

Hi, everyone! I am 2500kgm3 and I'm pretty new here. I have been dreaming of starting a Gorkamorka warband. As I love building terrain, my fate was sealed when I learned a fort for your warband was required in some scenarios featuring sieges where the enemy tries to recover members or vehicles...
