NCE Throwing/firing smoke bombs from lower elevation

The way we play it is that you can fire at the edge of the upper level. We also allow targeting walls, but that is maybe a bit house-ruley

N18 Escher gang - Herding Kittens

Thanks @BearsWillEatYou I was beginning to crumble and think about taking only one phelynx on each wyld runner. Here's the new list. The concept is simple: Fire ALL the smoke while sprinting across the board, then attack with ALL the cats. The leader is flexible, able to fire smoke a long...

N18 Escher gang - Herding Kittens

Agreed. I've been trying to think of a way to avoid charging in and missing attacks, but it is effective and has the benefit of not needing a specific weapon on the runner. Leaving some creds for smoke, smoke and more smoke. Which is also fun and makes for a narrative game

N18 Escher gang - Herding Kittens

I am fully prepared. Been playing Escher for 3 years and it's been a bumpy ride. Apart from a gang full of pets, I suppose I'd like to solve the problem of what to do with wyld runners. They're expensive and their dedicated weapons are underwhelming. The whip having entangle suggests that the...

N18 Escher gang - Herding Kittens

This is a fun and fluffy list. I know it'll get absolutely slammed in serious play, but I'm gonna do it anyway as it'll be so much fun. Of course I'd like to have as much of a chance as possible, so any tips or bright ideas would be great, within the theme, which is to have as many cat-beasts as...

N18 Escher House of Blades gang

Add in hyper and spur and you're on for a 12+d6" charge with 5" versatile. Min 18". Chuck in Violent Minded for an extra move action (our group allows this, despite Charge(double) not strictly being a fight or shoot action), then you're looking at 28" threat range. Absolute missile. I mean...

N18 Escher House of Blades gang

I'm also going for a dual stilleto sword, combat virtuoso death maiden. She'll be getting a stim slug stash after the first game to pump up the versatile to 5" for a turn, at which point she can attack a guy on the floor while merrily skipping along a walkway! Re-rolling 1s on toxin wound/injury...

N18 Efficient but not too boring Escher gang?

The humble lasgun. Give one to every girl, and two or three games later, one has hot shot, another has a las projector, a third has an infra sight. And all for 30 creds or less. You can do a lot worse than a cheap lasgun.

    N18 Escher damage dealing units

I've ditched overseer (thanks to our arbitrator) on my current leader after that Goonhammer article confirmed my sad realisation that it's not as fun, even though it's really good. Now she and both my champs have sprint. The idea is to team them up with a couple of juves and peg it to wherever...

What a great idea! I'll download this and have a go at making a semi-dungeon-crawl scenario

N18 Building a cheesy Escher gang

As they pointed out on the Goonhammer article, it's a shame that overseer is so good as it makes the game a little less interesting. But when you're up against snipers hitting anything on the board at 2+ all the time (with trick shot, infra sight etc.), it's good to have a counter, and a champ...

N18 Building a cheesy Escher gang

I'm also trying to write an heavily themed but effective/bit cheesy Escher list. Here it is: https://yaktribe.games/underhive/gang/the_smokestack_needles.60500/ Leader - sword, plas pistol, lasgun Champ - stiletto sword, needle pistol, lasgun Champ - nightshade, lasgun Ganger - plasgun...

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

That would definitely imply it's definitely the Line of Sight part that's the key here. So much for my half-baked argument. Then it would indeed follow that CC attacks are unaffected too, including versatile ones. All the more reason to buy hand flamers and shock whips.

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

Ha! I seem to have derailed my own post a bit here. Suffice to say, our group is playing smoke/darkness = flame template yes, blast template no. Smoke = CC counts as blind. And eagerly awaiting a FAQ. As for juves, it looks like Escher juves are good to be mobility focused, close range...

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

I think the darkness rules might totally allow for flaming blind. Darkness says "you may not target an enemy more than 3" away" and the flame template rules say "instead of targeting an enemy" Wow. Flame on. As for smoke, I'm still pretty convinced that the "attacks may not be made into, out of...

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

Our group's very successful Goliath player has a tendency to send in the heavies in groups. Id love to double flash flare a whole bunch of them. It'd be pure gold

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

It's worth a FAQ, but RAW for Smoke say "it blocks line of sight, so attacks cannot be made into, out of or through it". That seems fairly clear. Not shooting attacks (which require line of sight), all attacks, including close combat. It definitely makes sense that a fighter could flame a smoke...

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

Yeah it's gonna be the smoke grenades on one, photo goggles on the other trick. Goliaths have a nasty habit of remaining standing, but you can't fight what you can't see. As for skills, I've only tried spring up so far, which is badass on a heavy. I want to give one of the girls sprint too. A...

N18 In praise of the Escher Juve Rocket

Yes! More stabby Escher girls! I'm a few games in to the campaign now and the double stilletto juves definitely aren't is killy as they used to be. One of them has already bumped her WS to 3+ though so she's 3+ to hit and to wound most models. The same price as a ganger with a basic weapon but...
