    N18 Beginners Question Box

Yep! Even though they come from a ranged weapon, when you are using the Sidearm trait they count as close combat attacks and thus can be parried

    N18 New Rules Incoming

The old style campaign is the only thing that caught my eye, although I reckon an Escalation campaign would be pretty fun too (the one where you always get 250c after a battle up to 500c per game week) just because it smooths out both the upward and downward spirals. The rest of it just seems...

    N18 New Rules Incoming

I was one of these people. If I tried to roll quickly my dice could go anywhere, and at a Blood Bowl tournament where I was under time pressure I got so bad that I was hitting peoples' models on different tables. I have since invested in a dice cup, but one of my regular opponents will still...

N18 Escher List - anything to make it less cookie cutter?

What do you mean here? The Combi trait specifically separates the different weapons from a joint ammo fail:

N18 Escher List - anything to make it less cookie cutter?

I'm going to assume that your friend is looking for the cool theme over the most efficient choices, but there are a few things that could tighten up the list whilst still giving it more variety. First up, Wyld Runners in this context are really quite poor. Because they have such low INT they...

    N18 Shooting a Boltgun.

Pretty much spot on. A successful attack roll causes a number of hits equal to the bullet holes on the firepower dice. Each hit requires a separate roll to wound. Each successful wound requires a separate save. Each unsaved wound causes 2 damage to the target. Note that 4 injury dice is...

    N18 Faster, better, board layouts

Infinity terrain setup guide It's for a different game system, sure, but I think the principles of it are really useful for setting up Necromunda terrain too

N18 Are wyrd powers an attack (i.e. in regard to Nerves of Steel)?

I think the wording is actually that the model suffers one damage, but regardless; it is not an attack and does not cause a hit or wound roll, so it does not allow saves.

    N18 Current Rules

Simplest bet is to get the Necromunda Rulebook and the House of Faith (Cawdor) and/or House of Chains (Goliath). That gets you all the rules for a campaign, scenarios, your gang, and some tactics cards. Plus a whole bunch of things like Brutes and Hangers On. The Trading Post is now available...

    Radical YCE: Campaign organisation

This isn't quite what you've written; "A defeat is worthy if any of the below conditions were met" (emphasis mine). So as long as someone got within 3" of an objective, or caused an injury, then it doesn't matter if you voluntarily bottle at the first opportunity. You have met the requirement of...

N18 Are wyrd powers an attack (i.e. in regard to Nerves of Steel)?

Some Wyrd Powers are; for example, most of the Telekinesis ones say 'Make a ranged attack'. However, Psychic Assault just says they become pinned and may suffer damage, so I don't think it is a Ranged Attack per se. That would imply you can't ignore the pinning with Nerves of Steel

    Radical YCE: Campaign organisation

I generally like these changes, but to go through in a bit more detail: - It's implied, but not actually stated, that everyone starts with Settlement +3 territories (Like the Old Kingdoms campaign); is that correct? Or is there still an occupation phase before this Eternal phase? - Calling the...

    Minimal changes for maximum change?

Not broken at all, no. The thing to bear in mind with Necromunda is that it's very heavily slanted in favour of Shooting engagements; most fighters can charge 8" max without help from wargear or boosts, and there are no ranged weapons with a shorter range than that. Even in JawRippa's rules...

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

It occurred to me that the current version of Necromunda does kind of have a mechanism for perpetually playing a gang; you can form a Splinter Gang. However, looking at the rules it's a pretty rubbish deal; you lose your leader, you won't be able to bring many Juves because they automatically...

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

Just catching up on this thread and this reminded me of something that saddened me a while back. If I wanted to promote my Escher Specialist to a Matriarch with the same stats as an off-the-shelf Matriarch, I would need +1 in WS, BS, W, I, A, Ld, Cl, Wp, and Int, plus a primary skill, plus the...

This sounds super interesting; I'll have to give it a look!

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

8 players, 24 territories. Everyone had to make and receive one challenge per game week, with the option of side battles that didn't grant territory. So a minimum of 12 games. After the Occupation phase only 22 territories had been claimed (due to some draws) so the extra 2 were removed. When I...

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

Okay, fair, I'd be the first to admit that I've not played all the campaign types; Outlander and Ash Wastes remain a mystery to me. And my old-Necromunda experience predates NCE (I think? It's a fuzzy distant memory at best, as I mainly remember Gorkamorka). But beyond that it honestly seems...

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

Ah, I see what you're getting at! My bad; given that this thread started as 'here are the problems with progression in Necromunda campaigns' I thought you were saying that the progression system was narrative-based. In fairness, though, the narrative aspect is completely separate from the...

N18 The fundamental flaw of all campaigns

To be honest, I've never been impressed with the narrative side of Necromunda. Take my previous Dominion campaign: 8 gangs, and there were a total of 7 Ambots compared to 3 of other brutes, and that's bearing in mind that I refused to buy an Ambot purely because it felt cheesy. Every gang had...
