1000 Credit Escher gang: Too small at 7 members?

I overequipped my champions (stiletto swords, lasguns and either needle pistol or plasma pistol) which limited the amount of gangers I Had, but still managed 8-9 bodies in my starting gang. It's generally not worth to overequip gangers. Mine all have lasguns, and a few get needle rifles or...

    Beneficial to early bottle?

Yes it was sabotage we played, not ambush. Thanks for the answers!

Playing n17 with old school eschers

Initiative is great in sector mechanicus, as it helps prevent falls from getting pinned near an edge, and also makes jumping charges a real possibility. Still not the most powerful characteristic (looking at you, endurance and BS...), but more useful than it seems as first. Oh, and amazing with...

    Beneficial to early bottle?

Can you point to me where that rule is? I'm desperately looking for it and can't find it. We played ambush yesterday, and the attacker bottled after destroying the objective, preventing me from taking half of his gang OOA, and thus winning the scenario even though he was getting beat, using...

    grav chute and grapnel launchers

Grav chutes are expensive, but priceless for CC gangers: they can hide up, and then charge down what is effectively long distances, since the fall doesn't count as movement. BUt for 50cr, it's a pretty situational advantage

    House Favours, old pro

Ahah, we are doing almost the same: house favors can only be called from cycle 3, and only differences of over 50 are taken into account! Also we ruled that each gang gets one challenge per cycle, and can call favours once per cycle even though they usually play twice. We also use wealth rather...

    N17 Community FAQ Discussion [archived]

Indeed, the changes applied to dominion should be in turf war too, I think: - recovery only invalidates one post-battle round and not 2 - corrected advancement table for gangers - advances for champs/leaders cost +2 only if an identical advance has already been taken They're all common sense...

    Escher Starting List C&C

I also went without overseer. While the slingshot is awesome, it effectively precludes the leader from doing other things, and escher leaders have great stats, not to mention are really important to keep the gang together with their poor Cool...

    Ratskin Renegades Rules

Looks pretty solid upon first reading. Some very specific strengths, and the big weakness of doubled trading posts prices is huge. I'd say that the native venom is undercosted, though. Certainly more balanced thant the old ratskins though

    Tier list

In regard to tactics cards, you may well be right that they do balance gangs. I wouldnt know as we've decided not to use them. Tee simple reason why is that they slow the game down (selection before the game, choice to use or not at pretty much every activation,...). As some of our players are...

    Heavy weapons usefulness

I should have indeed added that smokes are an exception to that rule and can be freely thrown as per the regular rules

    NCE Old or new rules?

Despite its imperfections, N17 all the way. The old Necromunda suffered from regular gangs that had almost no difference between each other, and random improvement rolls were horrible. I must admit to not knowing NCE, which may well have remedied this. Alternated activation is nice, but slow...

    Heavy weapons usefulness

Regarding template weapons, we houseruled that the template must be place in contact or over an opponent's fighter base, and that modifiers apply. That has gone a long way towards rebalancing plasma cannons, grenade launchers, and other template weapons.

    Reputation House Rule Suggestion

Interesting, but it's a fairly complex set of rules to improve a mechanism that is simple but works decently at the moment...

    Escher Gang Criticism Pls

It's a pretty optimizes gang here, not much to say. A few things though: I know I'm in a minority, but I like stiletto swords as well as knives. The parry rule has saved my champions' hide many times, both when charging (happens often to me to miss all 4 attacks :cautious:), and when you get...

    Escher models question

That looks like chemsynth to me. Funny since it's seldom used, but most if not all escher models have one :D

    Engaging without Charging

I mostly agree, but for the fact that our CC champion may have spent 5 turns getting in a position to charge ;-) Pinning is indeed a powerful way to prevent charges. On the other hand, what gets me is how easy it is to shoot accurately an engaged fighter. That may be something worth houseruling

May be a bit far for you, but I'm located in Strasbourg, France, and play every 3 weeks or so with french-speaking friends. Your name makes me think it wouldn't be a problem My gaming club, strastegie (you can find it on FB), also wants to set up a necromunda campaign, but it's hard for me to...

Perfect post, and a short but precise guide on smoke grenade use. I commend you, sir!
