G'day all, welcome to my slow log showing progress for my 15mm Warhammer Quest project.

I've always been interested in Warhammer Quest, but just missed out on the chance to buy it as a teenager as it was removed from the shelves just after I'd saved enough cash for it (it had been on the shelves the month before I went to buy a copy). Now I'm older the bigest impediment to putting together a Warhammer Quest set is the amount of space I would need for both the playing table and the miniatures. Therefore I've decided to scale everything down to 15mm scale and magnetise it all, so that I have significantly reduced space requirements, and can pause and pack away mid-game without having to pack everything up.

Here I'm displaying all miniatures for the boxed set, plus a few additional, mostly sourced from Tonoborus's excellent 20mm resculpts, with a few downscaled scans from the ether. The tiles themselves are slightly larger than a direct 15mm rescale with the black removed. I found printing at 50ish% was too small, and I had to remove the black outline due to size limitations at the print shop I used; now that I have my own fancy printer I will continue with the scale and style, but can finally print larger tiles.

For a better depiction of the size difference, here is a comparison between the reduced scale with the original scale.

This is definitely a background project for me, but I've already progressed on printing all models required for the Level 1 monster list, and intend on printing all necessary models. For all other resources I've been sourcing from Littlemonk. Once I paint up enough miniatures (15mm is easier than 28mm in my opinion), I'll start playing some games and will post photos as I can.

This is a really cool project. OG whq and compacting the game for modern way of life. Both my kind of thing.

Access to new technology is a game changer, and I've found the learning curve to be enjoyable (though occasionally frustrating).

Reducing the scale down to 15mm has opened the door to a bunch of games I otherwise would have avoided due to space limitations, and have some 15mm Silver Bayonet and Test of Honour in progress too, although I'm sticking with the standard scale for Necromunda, 40k, Warhammer etc.

My dream is to create the assets for a Sci-fi version of WHQ set in Necromunda. I've got my main ideas down but the amount of time I'd need to put into artwork and writing has this on pause for now.

Progress has been slow, however I've painted up the tiny Giant Rats. I'd hoped to use this WHQ project to test out various contrast paints and so far I haven't been overly impressed. These models were done with Vallejo Xpress Colours, with a normal paint for the flesh and eye; I don't like the feel and the finish of them unfortunately. Currently working on paint schemes for the Skaven Clan Rats.

Are they dry in the picture? If so I think perhaps the paints need a good shake.

I've found many of my vallejo paints become gloss if they're not sufficiently shaken after sitting for a while.

Good advice, I've been shaking the Xpress colours for the amount of time I'd shake regular paints but it makes sense they'd need more. My experience with Vallejo has been hit and miss across all of their ranges which is frustrating as they make some of my favourite paints. These days I'm leaning more and more to Monument Hobbys' Pro Acryl paints.

I've made some more progress, with these Clanrats and Minotaur painted. I have used the Xpress colours again on the Clanrats, but have decided to return to painting using normal paints. I've got all the heros and greenskins from the starter box primed and ready to go, and am partway through painting the archways. I'm quite keen to get them done to get them onto the table.
