I'm a long time N95 player, but I know very little about the N18 game and rules. What gang would be easiest to run in N18 using N95 minis? I have pretty much all the boxed gangs and extra minis as well as various hired guns for N95. I find the spread of books for N18 quite confusing and I'm used to the closed system that is N95. I'd like to try an N18 campaign, but I'd like to use my current minis.

Escher are a good fit as the new sprue comes with autoguns, lasguns and shotguns as standard. Likewise they have access to laspistols, auto pistols and Stubguns.

The Heavy Stubber is common too.

So if you want to use the old metals you’ll find them a 95% fit. The missing 5% is mostly things like Juve clubs which aren’t in the House lists and due to limitations on the fighters access to the Trading Post you can’t give them any either (unless you house rule it)

The Leaders weapons should be ok - they can get TP access if you want true wysiwyg.

After that, if you get invested in them you can simply buy the new expansion box which has the Death Maidens and Wyldrunners.

Worst gang to cross over: Goliath. Almost nothing is still usable except special, heavy weapons and shotguns and stubguns.

Orlock won’t let you use your las weapons, neither will Cawdor and with both you’re missing out on newer fun weapons.

Van Saar I’m not sure about but you might be able to use a few.

Delaque… much the same.

So… in order to actually use those tricky old gangs you’d have to run them as an Outcast Gang. If you want the pure House experience stick with Escher.

Another small issue is the old metal minis are a slightly smaller scale compared to the modern minis.

It's not a super huge deal, but it's something to be aware of.

Significantly smaller scale for some gangs.

Escher are the best fit as virtually everything on the stock metal models can be used, even things like the power sword on one of the leaders. Escher are also the best fit style wise with the new plastics although the new models are quite a bit taller and broader especially with their high heels.

Van Saar are also ok, although the decision to give las versions of autoguns and shotguns will make their models look a bit odd as they are obviously projectile weapons and not las ones and their overall gang aesthetic looks completely different, so the new models aren't really compatible. But again virtually everything they have on the stock metals is usuable.

The other gangs are missing a lot of common things, especially the Goliath's who lack a lot of their basic gear from the original models. The size difference of the Orlocks and Goliaths is also very noticeable, they really don't look good together side by side. Cawdor are even worse with how primitive they are in the new versions and as with most things these days the less said about Delaque the better.

The biggest issue you will face is the lack of specialist champs and everything from the 'House of...' books onwards. If you were to stick to the gang lists from before that you would probably have an easier time adapting your old stuff, although the other players may not want to do that. And the scale issues will make it hard to add those things to your classic gangs without a lot of converting.

Give it a try, but be prepared to either do a lot of converting, a lot of house ruling or accept that you are going to be very underpowered Vs the latest lists.

Thanks for all the replies. Having played around a bit on the gang creator it looks like either Escher or Redemptionists are the closest fit.

It will be a lot easier if you just allow all common weapons to everyone.

"Classic Campaign" from the campaign variants of the latest core rulebook includes that rule. It's a campaign style I'm tempted by if I can't get my group to play a retromunda campaign (I really fancy a palate-cleanser of simple old rules).

I think the restricted weapon lists add a lot of flavor to the gangs.

The common wargear being lock behind playing a game is somewhat annoying though--since gangers can equip wargear from the trading post.

Personally I don't index too much on WYSIWYG as long as the dangerous models are pretty clear.
