Necromunda Alternative Necromunda Miniature Sources (image heavy)

Does anyone have picture size comparison for the northstar miniatures? specially the mercenaries. how well will they work with GW stuff, looking for hive scum, and badland enforcers hive scum specifically? thanks bunch :)
Best I can find online is from chaosbunker. They appear a tiny bit smaller than a Catachan guardsmen, and a little skinnier too (although those Catachans are pretty beefy dudes.

EDIT:

Found this one too. They look ok next to the poxwalkers and chaos cultists. The Magos is huge but I'm guessing he's just a particularly tall guy.

I tried browsing through this monster for alternative Spyrer models. But it really is a monster! Is there a cheapish alternative to convert/kitbash a range of Spyrers, possibly from a couple of (preferably plastic) kits? Thanks in advance, gentleyaks.

I keep thinking I'll find the bits on the Anvil Industries and Mad Robot sites but I am not skilled enough to visualize all the bits nor organized enough to procure and then model them. I suspect they are out there though.

I bought a box of Van Saar and some tau bits a while back for this purpose. Still not got around to building anything yet. The Van Saar bodies seem like they’d fit spyrers pretty well with some kitbashing. There’s some promising bits like cool wings and weapons in the Mechanicus range too.

@Tiny has a good point. I think I bought my box of Van Saar to make Imperial Assassins but of course got distracted. They would make good spyrer suits.

I'll take a look, but aren't the new necro range pretty pricey? I was hoping for another range, but come to think of it the Van Saar look pretty nice and up-hivey.

True but maybe the auction sites for the bodies/arms and bits sites for weapons and equipment? Archeotek and Neotek bodies may help with crouching body positions and maybe a patriarch body? @Tiny’s idea of Mechanicus bit usage might mean a rust stalker body or two for the lighter framed type spyrers?

I was actually more worried about the Orrus, but thought maybe some extra armour plates could buff them up a bit? The more I think about it, the more I like the Van Saar bodies for this. Maybe some Anvil Industry bits, they've got some nice high tech stuff. I'm also planning a different order at Mad Robot, but the scale might not fit the new necro that well...

Orrus is the one spyrer body type I've never some close to cracking bits wise. My first thought is always something along the line of non-Primaris space marine bits (assault marine legs for a charging version and classic legs for a standing bellowing fellow...no shoulder pads, etc.) to be able to use power fists for the arms but I never get anywhere with that line of thought. Somewhere in Anvil's Exo-Lord bits is something that would get across the idea and allow for the mass differentiation of the spyrers.

Kinda goes against the grain here but… assuming we’re still allowed to like them… have you looked at Artel W.

I think they work out at £47 which is expensive, though probably in the same area as buying a box of GW and a load of bits to make something similar.

Plus these are all available separately if you just want an Orrus (about £13). Plus they all seem to have alternate heads and arm options. Plus the base decoration is separate too.

They are... Ok. :giggle: I might be a little picky here, but I'd like a couple of each, and that would put them well out of my price range! The Orrus would be great with a headswap, the malcadon I really like as is. The others not so much. But thanks for the suggestion, I knew I remembered some not-spyrers from somewhere!

I picked up a bunch of Urban Mammoth Triads to make an Asian themed Spyrer gang, but their scale is a little small. Great (metal!) miniatures, though.

Artel W makes an actual range of not-Spyrers. As for me, I started a project on them using mainly Sicarian and Dark Eldar bits. Like so much of my work, the project is 80% done and languishing...

The Artel spyrers are very nice miniatures although having worked out an agreement to ship out of America has made them very pricey but still one of the best options. An intensive search around the internet can find alternatives, but generally means you will be converting from four different ranges, and paying four lots of shipping; so I am not sure if this will make them any cheaper than the Artel minis.

The spyrers from the original game were high tech and as such had a huge advantage over lowly hivers. In the new Necromunda those old spyrers would be completely outclassed technologically so if I were you I would start from scratch and give them some major upgrades to their abilities and equipment. Once you work out their new abilities and equipment then you could convert to your hearts content.

I play NCE, so no problem there! The new Van Saar models would be way more high tech than anything else on the table.

Actual NCE or yak versions? I too was not willing to make the leap to N17 or further versions as I do not believe they were anything more than an attempt to grab more money and I didn't really like the way they were going with things in any case.
