Necromunda Alternative Necromunda Miniature Sources (image heavy)

The new Stargrave Automotons would be a great source of bits or even just as full models - thinking servitors or tech-zombies.

Only thing I'm not sure about is the scale!

@Ben_S is our resident expert on Stargrave/Frostgrave. I’m surprised he hasn’t said anything about these guys yet. He’ll know how the brand scales.

Each frame has five, so a box has four frames for around CAN$50, plus shipping. Hmm. Very much want one frame for like $12.50, but as I don't remotely want 20 of them to add to my Pit Slave Uprising, the big box is more than will tempt me. But they look good. As to scaling, humans come in a wide variety of sizes. Danny Devito, Arnold Schwarztenegger, and Andre the Giant are all humans "sculpted in the same scale" of 1:1 (that would be ... 1829mm?). They should work fine, I think, scattered among other sculpts, whether they are 23mm head to foot, or 32mm head to foot.

I love these - lots of lovely cybernetic bits for all kinds of things! Plus I wanted some Servitors but GW make it difficult without having to get another character or a box of stuff just to get 1-3 minis. Pah.

Even so, yes, it’s a lot unless you want a big squad of them splitting a box or sourcing a sprue online are your options. Saying that I’m not going to criticise their generosity in this regard, I’d rather this than the GW solution of “you can make 10 miniature variations with this set - but we only give you five very specifically designed bodies to do so.”

Can account for Wargames Atlantic stuff, it hits the high side of 28mm so it looks good next to modern big GW minis and not huge compared to older stuff roughly on par with IG in height and the neck and arm sockets are pretty universal.

Not sure what it is but I really love the Stargrave aesthetic. Possibly that they remind me of some of the old school Rogue Trader era metal minis but in glorious multi part plastic.

Now I just need a reason to build a load of random sci-fi minis. Not a massive fan of the Grave D20 system sadly.

To be fair, one sprue of every stargrave set they’ve made so far will cost me like £40. Acceptably cheap just for the fun of building them tbh.
How many sprues is that? That’s about on par with one box set of GW or similar.

The bits collection alone would be useful.

I think they've made 8 sets so far (Scavengers x2, Crew x2, Mercs x2, Troopers, Automatons) and The Sprue Shop has them up for £5 a sprue.

Each sprue has 5 bodies and around 15 sets of arms and heads, so definitely a ton of left over bits.

Just as you can use any minis for Stargrave, you can also use the Stargrave minis for many other games. They seem quite popular for 5PFH, for instance. And I've made several Necromunda gangs out of them. (Haven't played an awful lot of Necro with them, but then I've never played Stargrave at all...)

They do kitbash well together too. And with Frostgrave/Oathmark kits too (though those are a bit more varied in size and style). Plenty of people have put spare Stargrave arms with guns on Cultists, Barbarians, Gnolls, etc.

Yu Jing specifically. There are a few of their suits that are very close to the Van Saar aesthetic.
