The thing with Interspecies Reviewers is that no streaming service carries it, and it’s not on YouTube either. But there are ways to see it, and I’ve watched it. It’s hilarious. But government thought the censored version was too risqué and once the Undead episode came out, it was banned everywhere.

I’ll be shocked if Gushing Over Magical Girls doesn’t go the same way. Especially since it’s uncensored.

Interspecies Reviewers was definitely amusing, but I felt pretty gross after watching it. I can see why more mainstream outlets wouldn't be keen on airing it (not that anyone "airs" anything these days).

Huh. Really? I’ve seen much worse that’s still streaming. Stuff that I thought was so over the top I just couldn’t watch it. Reviewers was just making fun of everything. I even caught an uncensored episode somehow, and they basically just blurred boobs. It was highly suggestive, but never crossed the line to hentai. (Which I cannot watch.)

So winter 2024 is another huge set of releases. I think my “try until episode 4 then decide what to ditch” is now dead. I’ll give the first episodes a look, but if they’re not grabbing my attention, I’m done. Far too many releases, and so many are crap Isekai.

Bravern is... Something else. It's got Kona Beer, ho-yay, real robots, and Obari. What's not to love?

I watched the first two episodes today. Yeah, it’s something else. I’m curious about all Braverns innuendo.

Copied this sentence from elsewhere but I agree with it (episode 4):

"The implication that they tried to waterboard Lulu and it failed because she just chugged all the water made me lose it."

well, we all knew it was coming. Crunchyroll said as much a little while after they bought funimation. I think most of the stuff has been moved to Crunchyroll already. Except Sentai. They’re exclusive on HiDive.

Yeah, from what I gathered the thing that’s bugging people is the 45%-ish increase in the Crunchyroll subscription and the fact that any Funimation shows you had in an digital library are now gone.

As part of our transition to Crunchyroll, the price will increase from USD $54.95/year to USD $99.99/year beginning January 28th, 2025.”

As is the way with online streaming and not actually owning physical media these days.

I dunno. There is now (as of today) a message on Crunchyroll on transferring your Funimation account (including watch history) to your Crunchyroll account. Has to be done before April 2, of course.

What's really tedious is trying to watch (a fully subbed) anime from years ago, but all that's up there is playlists with a half dozen episodes and 40+ hidden videos (because they were deleted) on YouTube. Which would be fine if they were released in a torrented format, but no, turns out Brave Exkaiser was mostly subtitled by a guy whose channel no longer exists.

On the bright side, Brave Bang Bravern is the only anime that ever convinced me to buy a specific brand of beer for drinking while watching the show.

...and now it just got better. Never have I been prouder to be an American XD.

Logged into Crunchyroll for the first time this year! Woo!! 🤣

I used to be able to do it with a username but now I had to use my email. Regardless all my details are still there. Wonder if that had to do with the switchover??

Anyway, started to watch third series of “Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon” but oddly I felt rather bored by the first episode. Does it pick up pace later? Dunno why but just not feeling it things time around. Maybe it’s because it’s been literally years since I last watched it.

So I decided to look for something lighter and settled on “Tomo-chan is a Girl!” which I thought was a premium only programme but it turned out only the English dub is and only after three episodes too.

Fun enough, so I think I’ll watch it out.

it does pick up a bit, but compared to the first two seasons it goes slightly into left field. Season 4 was really good (only on HiDive at the moment. It’s a Sentai Filmworks title).

Tomo-Chan is a Girl was good.

I’d also suggest “Onimai: I’m your sister now!” For some light-hearted fun.

And “Nichijo!”

Saw a clip from a series called No Longer Allowed in Another World and now I’m intrigued. It looks like another fantasy adventure series and they can be hit or miss.

Clip I saw had a catgirl (calling @Punktaku) being captured by an evil tree and asking a depressed guy for help. He was too depressed to do much and the tree got him too but it seems he’s so depressed that he’s poisonous now and the poison killed the tree, freeing both of them. Seems he was miffed by that as it sounds like he’s been trying to “depart” for a while and can’t no matter what he does.

Would like to give it a view but it seems to be premium only and I cycle subscriptions so not on there at the moment.

It’s on Crunchyroll. I’m watching episode two right now (just dropped). The protagonist is a bit more than depressed, and is not at all happy to be isekai’d. Cat girl is his second companion. I‘m intrigued. This is another huge season.

there’s probably 30 new/returning series on Crunchyroll and five on HiDive. Plus there always seems to be a couple on other things like Hulu.

So I’ve been watching Megaton Musashi and came to the end of season one. It’s ok, if you like over the top steampunk looking mega robot battle suits. (Definitely not mecha). It ended at a kinda weird time and at a weird episode count (partially into an extended season) with a “see you in season two” message, which I assumed might be Fall or Winter, or maybe next year. Nope. The entire season two dropped immediately afterwards.

So…why release season one as a weekly series? It’s weird.

I randomly came across Delicious in Dungeon (aka Dungeon Meshi apparently) on Netflix a week or so ago, and have been quite enjoying it.

The premise is essentially a group of adventurers who can't afford to supply their dungeon escapades properly decide to cook and eat the monsters they come across rather than bring provisions.

It's got quite a lot of roleplaying/adventuring in-jokes in it which are fun (That was the first time I died/How are the trees underground possible (just don't think about it) etc). Part cookery show, part adventure. And the food looks pretty good - makes you want to fry up a giant scorpion...

I read that a second season has been confirmed.

Edit: if you haven’t seen it yet, Uncle from Another World (also on Netflix) is really good.
