Somehow I’ve managed to become nostalgic for the old days of analogue TV, the days of discovering an Anime broadcast on some obscure satellite channel at an ungodly hour of the night, or even the terrestrial broadcasts on Channel 4’s “Late Licence” which introduced me to a whole list of incredibly cool stories.
Even now I only really feel like watching anime when it’s dark outside - which is one of the only benefits to the increasing darkness of Autumn evenings.
Anime, late nights and snacks; just seems “right”.
So I’ve dusted off some of my old VHS classics from Manga UK, AD Vision (before they became ADV Films), Anime Pioneer and more… but it seems the ravages of time and damp may have taken their toll, quite a few have got the dreaded mould…

Like a VHS STD, you don’t want to run those through your tape player, for it will be full of spores and probably shove them into the atmosphere too.
A few haven’t got VHS clap though, so I shall enjoy the experience of loading them up on my early-2000s 14” VHS combo TV (which still has a superb picture) and watching some grainy classics.
I think I may try to save a few of those old VHS

, there’s some machines out there than can help clean the tapes with isopropyl alcohol, one of which can be 3D printed. Might wait until better weather to try that.
I’ve noticed a few of these have recently come back in improved Blu-Ray format so I may have to shell out again to get those classics, hoping that they don’t disc rot over the next 20 years.
