Another hobby log

Welcome! It's a great way to stay motivated and inspired, for sure. Leave some comments around the other plogs and posts, and soon you'll be able to use the gallery here as well. :giggle: (y)

Edit: You're not near Southern Zealand, Denmark per chance? I could use a few more gaming friends. ;)

Hey vigourmortis! Welcome to the tribe from me!
Here’s a couple of questions to get you started: Which is your favourite house? And what are you working on right now?

First up: here's my n17 gang. On paper they're a chaos cult. I made them early last year.

I wont post an more pics of them unless someone asks cause the image upload on this website is kind of a hassle on mobile.

What's the base model you used for your wizard, there? Love the scarecrows/golems/assembled monsters as well. Good show! The colour scheme does a good job of evoking late October as well.

My big painting wip at the moment is this gang who i made ages ago but never painted cause i couldnt decide on the colours. Some suggestions would be appreciated...

The concept was a group of apocalyptic raiders in a place where derelict but advanced technology is abundant, but nothing else is. So like, rags and hoverbikes, I suppose.

The prophet here is based on a 1/35 ma:k figure. You cant get them online at the moment but a hobby shop in my city has a few stocked still cause noone buys them I suppose. I snapped a few up.

There was also a vague idea about like, aping retro 40k aesthetics but in a mutated way, hence the marine and dreadnought, which are supposed to echo the ones from like, 1st edition or whatever.

Hey, thanks! That autumnal feel is exactly what i was going for! The wizard is a delaque ganger with a hat from a reaper bones dwarf wizard (only good wizz hat mini around, and cheap too) with branches from chopped up dryads.

I thought that I recognized that hat, but then the cane and noose threw me off. Kudos. Well conceived, well put together, well painted.

Hmm. Ash wastes and such, eh?

Greys. Ranging from oily blacks up through dusty near-white, but greys. With a bit of sandy yellows here and there, as spot colours. Nearly-but-not-quite monochrome could suit this crew really well, I think. Get that "post apocalyptic dust and ashes" feel, which most folks I find on a google image search seem to run with rust-brown-through-orange-to-red instead. But I think the different greys could be quite striking.

My main current wip is this group of necrons.
I decided to concert a full kill team roster (4 warriors, 4 immortals, 2 deathmarks and 2 flayed ones) from the standard warrior box as a little challenge or whatever. Unfortunately I havent had time to work on them the last few weeks cause ive been swamped with commissions. Aggravating.
I was inspired big time by the necrons gardens of hecate on blogspot made, so they're a little derivative.
They're based around my own ideas for a cooler alternative universe necron lore, but I'm not going to subject you all to it lmao

This was the first one i made. I planned for him to be an immortal, but i made the deathmarks right after and he looked too small, so i pulled him apart. I'll bulk out the torso and put him on some new legs and that'll do it, I think.

Thank you very much! Heres another angle on him.

You know, I already started painting the bases a light grey, like the moon or whatever... you might be on to something...

I have my own head-canon for half the races in 40k, would like to hear an outline of your necron variant :)

Your conversions are really grim dark.
