Another hobby log

This is all awesome. The necrons are my favourite; can't wait to see 'em painted.
Thanks! I'll try and finish then hehe

I have my own head-canon for half the races in 40k, would like to hear an outline of your necron variant :)

Your conversions are really grim dark.
Yeah, its wierd, huh? I keep finding the official lore wierdly rigid and a little boring...
Well, the idea is that necrontyr life centred on making ones body and lives a home for the dead and anticipating death as a positive change, and necron existence is like, defined by the cultural trauma of having betrayed that to turn themselves into immortal tombs, I guess.
Also i thought it would be cooler if the actual bodies were flawed and the self distortions from biotransferance were mostly because the engineering and coding wasn't good enough...
Idk, something like that. Mind wiped robots doesnt really interest me, but tragic and shambling yet indestructible reliquaries kinda do, you know?
Glad theyre grim! Thats what i was going for, really.

Yikes! That is tragic. Maybe it’s driven them crazy (would that be possible? Or would the machine body keep them as sane as when they were transferred in?) and they need to kill to prevent others from making the same mistake?

I’m trapped in this immortal form for all eternity. I long for death, but it will never come for me. But you don’t have to make the same mistake. (Pew! Pew!) And now you won’t. You’re free! FREE!!! You’re welcome.

Thats the right idea! Ive always imagined them as a bit more lethargic and scattered... kind of like eeyore with short term memory loss and a gauss cannon, I suppose...
the idea of a necron saying"you're welcome" to an atomised corpse is hilarious, I love it!

Dear lord how freakin' awesome material you got here @vigourmortis !!! 🔥

Just drooled through the skeleton gang pics... No it's time to grab a cup of coffee and delve into the other stuff. Keep it up!
Aaaaand for the Necrons - great job on them as well. That's exactly how I always dreamed the Necrons should look like.

Thanks, I'm glad you like em! I'll try and make more necrons soon!
Excellent idea! If you've got room for it... ;)

I really need to clear out the garage, so many wasted square meters out there.
IIt's got a lid, so I can store it pretty easily... I've also magnetised all the figures so they wont rattle around. A display that doubles as storage!

That little white pedestal thing on the bottom would look really cool with a Loc-Nar on it.
It's a super glue lid! I like using junk like that in my builds hehe. Maybe I'll make a loc-nar diorama some time...

Looks very cool. I’d swap out the Bad Moons icon for something scythe-like with electro-coils, unless you have an opponent that plays orks and you want to taunt them :)

I might.... but the moon looks so john blanche... maybe i can justify it by saying the bad moon is a ctan or something, the orks did fight in the war in heaven after all...

It’ll be done just in time for the new edition of 40k to rewrite all the rules, eh?

Seems that way! But they already dont look like the official models, so its probably fine lol

My big painting wip at the moment is this gang who i made ages ago but never painted cause i couldnt decide on the colours. Some suggestions would be appreciated...

The concept was a group of apocalyptic raiders in a place where derelict but advanced technology is abundant, but nothing else is. So like, rags and hoverbikes, I suppose.

The prophet here is based on a 1/35 ma:k figure. You cant get them online at the moment but a hobby shop in my city has a few stocked still cause noone buys them I suppose. I snapped a few up.

There was also a vague idea about like, aping retro 40k aesthetics but in a mutated way, hence the marine and dreadnought, which are supposed to echo the ones from like, 1st edition or whatever.
These Technomads look very Blanche-esque!
As does the rest of your work. Epic conversions. All of them.

Ive been very inspired by Max Fitzgerald's turnip28 stuff, so I've made my own little guy. He's sort of my own take on it, mostly cause i didnt have any napoleonic war or medieval miniatures to bosh for the look, so I used a 1/35 wehrmacht guy... i enjoyed working at this scale a lot, honestly. Ill probably do it more lol
Still need to add the tufts, mud, and so on, but hes mostly done.

Glory to the burdock 13th! Last in, first out!

A couple of these photos popped up on the random media, so I checked the thread again just to realise that @vigourmortis hasn't been on for ages and that we might never see these minis ever finished.
