Hi guys, how do you think Ash wastes terrain fares for use in classic Necromunda? I saw the announcement of the new scenery, i really like it and would like to build a table on that theme, but i imagine it might la k of various levels and of walls for use in classic necromunda, no? I fo have an octarius and a gang stronghold pack, in addition...

Line of sight blockers, scatter and density are important for classic NCE. Don’t think it matters what you use as long as you achieve those 3.

We’ve played a lot of different tables at Tribemeet and the sweet spot seems to actually be 3 levels max maybe even 2, with a couple of long range fire corridors. Anymore than that and the table starts becoming too hard to play on and move your models etc etc. A 3 foot by foot table is more than sufficient for a good game if you get the scenery right. Also if you want walkways to be used they need to have at least soft cover built in.

That's perfect, thanks! I guess that with octarius and the gang stronghold, I'll have enough ground floor line of sight blockers. I also have the old necromunda scenery if needed. And the new hab building would be great to add height. I'll build them and I'll try it out

I gather that the new scenery is quite versatile and that it is designed to fit with existing 40k/Necro kits. So, you could definitely incorporate it into your hive setting. They look like some kind of shanty town dwellings.

I'm not sure about making a table out of only these new kits though (if that's what you had in mind). At the very least, you'd need quite a few sets to get sufficient density.

I have the box... to ideally populate a 3 x 3 for traditional nce youd need 4 sets at least. However to play the ash wastes as it's intended you dont need as much. Maybe 2 or 3 at a push as the game is meant to be played with open areas for vehicles and the weather adds the cover instead.
The hab units do stack up and you can build tall towers connected by bridges without the hab bit also. So yeah I would add its versatile but would need an eye watering amount to do a dense table alone with this stuff.
Dont know if that answers your question but

Yes, it's perfect. I'm building mine at the moment. As i said in the original post, i also have the gang stronghold and the octarius scenery, which should help break lines of sight. Also, I'd build piles of crap to break the line of sights, as if the houses were what kept people above the dump below.
I'm glad to hear they stack. A couple of hab towers would be cool.

I didn't see Heresylab from Italy in here, although I may have missed it in my skimming. They have some beautiful miniatures which would suit the underhive, even a leader for your pitslaves (Bull Gorg in fact).

The rat catcher from the fantasy section would work well and their are multiple scifi minis that would work in Necro. Personally, I love their take on Vespids and my hive at least will feature these awesome miniatures swarming around there nests in thr badlands.

Mantic is another company that has recent releases that would work in Necro, including the Veer-myn. I will be using the Veermyn tunneller as a night train intially. The tunneller and three extra compartments to represent the night train.

I've been amassing a lot of the Hab terrain from Ash Wastes with the goal of having a dual tiered demo board, where the entire bottom is filled with beasts and hazards that vehicles mostly ignore, and the upper tier is a layer of hab units along with extra walkways and platforms.

There's no reason why a gang wouldn't use these sturdy hab units in any other situation though. There's as much open spaces in areas of the hive that's unused. Having a sturdy elevated position is always useful.
