Necromunda Bacon's Underhive Builds - Conversions A-Go-Go

Thank you :)

I'm PVAing the pools. First layer is curing just now. It will take a whole bunch of layers but I'll just chuck some in every few days. Plus the odd arm or skeleton in there for gross fun.

I realised I didn't check if minis can see over the ruined walls to shoot! I just freestyled with the hot wire cutter. So all I'll do is add rubble and debris to make a level they can stand on if needed.

I think this is the term 'clouding'. It goes to a tacky state (if you ever cut down to it), and stays a semi cloudy look... I think it takes some time to get to it's final shade of 'cloud' though. This is from what I've heard from others who do this, read online and observed on my painting tile when I poured way too much pva than I needed to base stuff I wanted to. So not scientific at all I'm afraid!

Troll food left out - tiny scamper of orange feet approaches.....

The thicker the PVA the longer it takes to dry, it might do eventually but it'll take ages. Alternatively it'll dry on the surface and trap in the wet glue that'll stay white.

You can sometimes get some good efffects by the way it contracts when it drys. It creates a dry cracked mud effect but I find it too haphazard to depend on happening.

If youre going for water the best product for consistent results I've used is a two part epoxy resin. I think Tak's got one of my ponds where I've used it.

Clockwork

I don't have pics but have had some decent luck in the past with using plumber's caulk for water, both the white, paintable kind if you're not looking for translucent results and the clear kind with inks on top if you are. Took forever to dry, but that also means you can sculpt waves and such if you are so inclined (which I am not, but the much more artistic person I was working with did some neat work).

So... starting Yak19! Bitz box challenge? It's what I do! Yussss!

I stared at bitz, in bags and on trays. I narrowed down to some key components:

That damned Dwarf torso came in a (terrible) random bits pot from an internet seller. Never going to use it. So it's perfect for this competition! Only thing is, I'm not going to make him a dwarf. Or Squat. He's gonna be a full-size human miner. Maybe a Bounty Hunter, maybe a Leader for my work crew gang. Who knows yet? Let's get choppin'...

Yeah, I'm super short on legs. So this guy is getting a sculpted rad-cloak, which will look like the Genestealer Cult mining workers. I did this recently to get extra Cultists from the box, so I've had a little practice.

I gave him the Dwarf torso, with bent arm clipped off and trimmed down, and beard tails removed. His back is from a Genestealer Cult Acolyte. I clipped the lamp, which was pointing skyward without the Acolyte's hunched pose, and affixed it to the helmet instead. Very miner-like. I covered the gap left on the back with a bit clipped from a Mechanicus electro prod, as I like the asymmetry.

I clipped the magwell and emitter/front section from a Catachan lasgun, then added them to a trimmed Scout boltgun held in Scout arms. I'll Green Stuff over the joins later. This is now a super-rare Godwyn Pattern Hotshot Lascarbine.

I raised the torso up to the correct height with sprue and glued it to the base. I added the metal bionic leg, origin forgotten - any ideas? I'll sculpt the rad-cloak in once all the poly cement is properly dry. I chucked a bit of Green Stuff down to start bulking.

I added some tubing and armour plates to the torso with Green Stuff too. Lots more to do later but this has started to shape things.

Terrible lighting, scuse the pics that follow. So engrossed I hadn't realised it was 2:30am!

He's got the badassitude I was hoping for! Like a gnarlier take on the future miner look.

I also made a very silly opponent... pics tomorrow. Scuse the naffness of tonight's!

Haha he does look a bit saucy. Dunno if I can fix that!

Here's the Heavy. Inspired by @trollmeat in a thread about Heavies, I've given him an Autocannon with underslung Huge Axe. Counts as both weapons.

Together so far...

His legs are gonna be a pig to fix the gaps, as they were supposed to butt up against a cloak I used on my Yarrick conversion.

Great GS work and some nice conversions! My favorite is The Running guy with boltpistol - I love the dynamic you created starting with the repositioning of those outrider legs! I am really looking Forward to see your Inquisitor and the medic. :)

I'm impressed both with your GS skills and the speed with which you're knocking these out.

This might be your plan anyway, but I think the dwarf-head guy may need a bit more bulk behind that clock. I'm not sure about this, as I only have a few photos to go from, but from at least some of the angles it looks more form-fitting that I'd expect. It's like a Morticia Addams dress or something.

Yeah he's getting bulked slowly. I made an error by not adding a sprue pseudo leg inside to sculpt around, so it's slow going. So I've made him pals while layers cure.
