Necromunda Bacon's Underhive Builds - Conversions A-Go-Go

I do have to say though, I appreciate the praise but my terrain painting is basic as hell. The washi tape really lifts it. Rough drybrushing and sponged texture looks great when contrasted with the sharp tape lines. Blending the tape in with some mud/muck/scuffing with paint over the top helps bed it in.

What I mean is, go grab some washi tape and YOU CAN DO IT!

I will... get sidetracked and scratch build an Imperial Superheavy from plasticard.

Whoops. Almost done.

Thanks, man. I'm semi-unemployed whilst trying to kickstart a design career. This has been excellent for prevaricating and recharging creativity. I spent all day yesterday playing 40K so today I just sat and riveted. Lots. Of. Rivets. Kind of fun, if repetitive.

Thanks @Fold! At arm's length it'd be hard to tell for sure. I like that it's super close but has my own tweaks and details, like the vision slot for driver having targeters, and the extra sensor array and searchlight on turret. Makes it personal and deliberate choices rather than aping the original entirely.

What do you use for rivets? They seem nice and round.

I used a tip I picked up from a modelling thread on Dakka - 1mm half-round nail art beads!

Here's me making replacement plates with them for a Baneblade I got on the cheap. Originals left and centre, mine to the right.

I believe they're acrylic. However, I found that instead of supergluing them, a drop of polystrene cement melted the plasticard around enough to grab the bead sufficiently once dry. Gives a longer working time, more forgiving application and fewer glued-together fingers!

All my progress is on my Dakka Imperial Guard thread if you wanted to see the inbetween stages: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/60/513429.page

Very nice terrain and tank!
Where did that very long ladder on the tall tower come from?

Thank you!

The ladder is two stuck end-to-end from an MDF scenery kit I got. I believe it was Wargame Model Mods stuff, though I got a bundle ludicrously cheap off a forum that had just sat in someone's cupboard - £20 for about £95 retail worth of MDF, yasssss!

Thanks, (you lucky bastige).

How about that great looking yellow/black Washi tape? Color/product code?

Thanks!.

The tape was an eBay spesh job. I got "yellow/black diagonal" and "red/white diagonal".

Chuck "washi tape" into eBay and you should find some quick enough. I can't go back far enough in my purchases on phone eBay app. I'll check item number on desktop for you tomorrow.

Thanks. Could not find any on ebay but did find some on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/1270875308

So I only completed* four of my motley crew. The Inquisitor is underway but too ambitious to be completed yet, Mechadude is unfinished, and One Leg still only has one leg. I'll sort them later. For now, I had an eleventh hour painting dash...

Reworking my theme slightly, here is a slice of the "between missions" part of Necromunda you don't usually see. May I present "The Doctor Will See You Now"...

From top left clockwise:

The Doc - If you need to visit him you must be desperate. He doesn't trim his nails or wash his scrubs. His death rate is higher than his crazy-steep fees. That Inject-o-matic looks PAINFUL. But he knows his stuff, and may just save your life. May. Now, meet his henchmen...

Slim - Originally a Van Saar who couldn't pay his medical bill, he chose work it off. Now Slim guards the Doctor, and has become addicted to 'upgrades', becoming something of a test bed for the Doc.

Severus - A former Goliath ganger, clad in an old, baroque HazViro suit. Severus ensures anyone who doesnt pay up promptly pays for it. He wields a fearsome Autocannon, made more ferocious (and ballistically preposterous) by attaching a Massive Axe underneath.

Dihn - Horrifically wounded in a Hivequake, hot-headed Dihn has had his arm replaced by a blade, his torso reinforced with cybernetics, and his morals almost completely bypassed. At least, that's his excuse...

*Completed? Well kinda. I haven't properly based them yet, Dihn is rough and unfinished, and on the Doc I used the Eavy Metal shortcut of painting mostly what you can see from the front ;-) I'm still really happy with them. Thanks once again for the motivation, praise and support, Yakkers!

Edit: did a rough count. I think there are parts from 23 different kits used in these four guys!
