Necromunda Bacon's Underhive Builds - Conversions A-Go-Go

I've had a small scenery blitz today. Painted up the last of my MDF buildings VERY quickly:

Spray blue, half spray grey, splodge on brown for mud. Done! The burnt lines in the MDF shade themselves.

And here's a quick tower/LOS blocker I also threw together. I used two part epoxy glue so it was ready to paint 5mins after assembling, and painted 10mins after that!!! Spray DA Green, dust and layer with grey, splodge on brown. I'll wash and Highlight this some more at a later date, as well as likely do metals for some of the pipes. It'll do for 40K launch day gaming tomorrow though!

Quite proud of the pull-down ladder construction :)

Soo.... I went back to page one and read the whole thing. (I've done this with a few threads on here.). All I can say is "oh my god!". Umm... Criticism: your first 11 pages or so are photo-free. It sounded like there was some really nice stuff in there (read it all anyway).

Overall reaction: I'm done. Anyone want to buy a hoard of polystyrene, broken toys, and other bits and pieces? My bits boxes have no torsos or legs, tho.

@Punktaku - thank you very much! Yeah, Google Drive seems to have shifted all its links so my images disappeared. I'll go back and fix sometime. Annoying.

@Blackbeard - thanks, too! I have no idea where that set is from, sadly. I bought several MDF kits from a guy on a forum for £20, and got £75 worth of unused MDF kits. I've binned the instructions so no clue, sorry!

Hmmm. I need to get my Yak comp entry on the go, and paint some Necromunda stuff, but I'm making another superheavy from scratch just now. The mighty CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT this time! And finishing a Thunderbolt fighter. Scratch building bug has bitten me HARD.

@The Duke - Yeah they're a bit Ogryn-sized as I did them in a rush but they help it feel 'lived-in'. The muddy footprints run up all the ladder rungs too. :)

The orange bits are from HP printer cartridges. They twist off the top of each ink, three small ones for CMY and a larger one for black. I've been stashing them.

Aha, I knew I recognised them, good shout @Xavier Bacon - they work really well!

Thanks, I think so. Wondering if plastic clothes peg halves might achieve a similar effect?

Wowza, that is intimidating!

Sooo perfectly formed, you're scratch-build-fu is level 100!!!

I really love how chunky and heavy it looks (but then, I would!)

Just had a quick browse through your thread on Dakka-Dakka, those plastic praetorians are ace, great steampunk vibe and the Kommissar Yarrick kit bash is epic!!

Really like the squatlings and scions too

And all those tanks man!! Simply superb!!

Incredible work @Xavier Bacon

Thanks @The Duke :)

I'm thinking my 'old school' should be a Cult Limousine? I could make something chunky enough to be a counts-as Goliath in 40K, and also scenery for a Necromunda or Shadow War skirmish. Whaddya think?

THAT!

is a most excellent idea

I can use these to help draft a plan. I'll add more detail than the original and try to bring a little of the modern styling in. I won't use a base toy like the original, no sir.

Goliath is apparently 5" long, 2 1/2" wide, 2 1/4" tall. Mine will likely end up longer and/or a bit shorter, have to see what I can do.

I'd quite like to make it flat-bottomed so I can have a go at casting up multiples. I could do this by having separate wheel or antigrav units that glue under the wheel wells, or just go for a two-part mould. Dunno. We'll see how I get on

The joy of new lack of Fire arcs means I don't have to worry about replicating weapon placements. I can do grille- or hood-mounted guns just fine.

I would be soooo hyped to see your take on the infamous genestealer limo @Xavier Bacon - having now seen what you can do from scratch!) and the excellent steam-pink stylings of your Preatorians.
