I’ve recently managed to swindle some of the guys I game with into a Narrative NCE campaign (now that I have space to host)! So this will be a place for my ramblings and reports.

We have a good number of folks involved (and plenty of room for anymore Essex Necro fans!), so far the gangs that have played are;

The Pumptown Pitbulls - my Goliaths
The Dark Brotherhood - sneaky delaques
The S.H.I.T.S - would be Orlocks, a recently armed branch of sewage plant workers who bring new meaning to the term ‘militant’

The campaign is set around an Underhive settlement called Big Great, and there will be a bimonthly (ish) big group game to drive a main story along, aside from that folks can play as and when they wish.

I’m putting out a newsletter every so often to keep folks abreast of the games taking place.

Edit; added the first two newsletters!

Games taken place so far;

1 - The SHITS took on the Dark Brotherhood in a gang fight. Some back and forth gun fire eventually led to the SHITS bottling. Our Delaque player is new to Necromunda and has really been surprised by the ‘out of ammo’ rules!

2 - the SHITS went up against the Pitbulls in a a scavengers game. My heavy with heavy bolter was an absolute monster and took out three Sewer Workers on his own, eventually leading to a bottle from the SHITS (albeit with most of the loot!).

3 - the Pitbulls got hit and run by the Dark Brotherhood. The secret mission turned out to be to take out my heavy bolter guy in close combat, which they succeeded... he got horrible scars! Casualties were heavy on both sides, with multiple captured leading to some trade but the Pitbulls still in possession of the Delaque leader Silver. My leader also picked up a BS increase leading to his new moniker “Dead Eye” Dutch.

4 - Rescue Mission - the Brotherhood attempted to reclaim their leader, and would have succeeded had their heavy’s plasma cannon not exploded in his hands. My reinforcements eventually drove the Delaques away.

5 - the Dark Brotherhood ambush the Pitbulls who are celebrating selling the leader into bondage. The Delaque plasma cannon explodes again! This is the only reason I have a gang left as the ambush took a heavy toll on my guys. Two more guys picked up horrible scars, and one earned a killer rep. My gang is quickly becoming fearsome indeed!

Game 6 - Pumptown Pitbulls clash with the Lords of Iron of House Orlock while scavenging.

The Pitbulls were way ahead in terms of rating going into this, but it didn’t really pay off. Both gangs engaged early but some abysmal shooting (and balance on gantry edges!) from the Goliaths, opposed to pinpoint accuracy and wounding from the Orlocks soon put most of the Pitbulls either down or out. “Deadeye” Dutch Lopez called the retreat before he lost anymore, taking a single measly loot crate with him. As a new gang the Lords of Iron got a huge boost from beating the Pitbulls, and are already a fearsome bunch of scrappers! Capturing a Goliath heavy netted them an autorepairer and some other goodies as ransom, and most of the gang earned some serious boosts and skills from the encounter. The Pitbulls didn’t fare nearly as well and the last original Juve of the gang lost his second hand and had to retire. Fortunately another young buck from a a settlement stepped up and picked up the stubgun. The Orlocks also stole a slag heap from the Pitbulls, leaving some serious scores to settle!

Game 7 - Redemptionist crusade vs Lords of Iron - Gang Fight

The Iron Orlocks are gaining a reputation as a gang of snipers as again they seem unable to miss. The redemptionists try their best to push up the board into flamer range but are being picked off until they are pushed into bottle test territory. They last a few turns before turning away without inflicting a single casualty on the Orlocks. The Iron Lords do ok in the post game but the redemptionists hit the jack pot with a hidden weapon cache.

Game 8 - Pumptown Pitbulls attack the SHITs - the hoard

A few of the SHITs are guarding a hoard of goodies when the Goliaths charge out of the shadows. A few overwatch shots hit home, and a juve runs, and before you know it the Pitbulls are bottling in the second turn as the SHITs laugh heartily.

Game 9 - Shootout - Pitbulls vs SHITs

The Pitbulls break first, then completely fluff their initiative rolls and are soon on the floor either downed or pinned as the quick draw SHITs hit home with accurate fire. The Goliaths bottle again, and are fortunate in the end game to not suffer too badly in injuries.

Games 10 & 11 - Dark Brotherhood vs The Pitbulls

I actually got to pick the scenario so played package run, and pretty quickly bullied a victory out of the less developed gang. However in the next game the Delaque player picked a blind fight and got hoard, so we decided it would be the Brotherhood returning mob handed to get their package back. It was a back and forth battle with no clear advantage to either player but as soon as I had to make a bottle roll I failed immediately as always! So the sneaky buggers got their package back. I had to pay a massive ransom for one of my main gangers as we didn’t have time for a rescue mission and I was getting no mercy after previously selling his leader! So most of my goodies had to go, and a new juve from my settlement.

Games 12 & 13 - SHITs vs Lords of Iron

The two Orlock gangs clashed over salvage of a run amok sanitation droid, with much carnage ensuing. Thrills and spills took place with the theme being very much “fall off a ladder and turn a S 3 stub hub hit into a S 6 fall onto concrete.” One of the SHITs was killed by the Bog Bot as well!

Games 14 & 15 - Pitbulls vs Enforcers

I took on an enforcer patrol team, getting hammered in a gang fight and losing a territory... they are bloody tough! Then we played a raid with the fuzz successfully sneaking into my base and smashing the target. The bloody cyber mastiff was an unholy terror, and of course drew all the fire and charges as it was leaping about savaging my juves. I lost a pretty decent ganger, and almost lost my leader Dutch after he was heavy stubbered off of a three story gantry... luckily a medic skill picked up in the last game saved his bacon.

Game 16 and 17 - Dark Brotherhood vs Enforcers

The lawmen ambushed the Dark Brotherhood, and with no counter ambushers it was not looking favourable for the Delaques. However things soon went south for the Enforcers when an overpowered plasma pistol blasted the Enforcer Sergeant off of a gantry, and this precipitated a rout with the Enforcers withdrawing after suffering heavy casualties. The Brotherhood picked up a friendly doc out of the fracas as well.

But the Brotherhood would make a mistake by capturing an officer of the law... the rescue attempt was a bloody affair for the Delaques as the firepower brought to bear on them by the fuzz was overwhelming. The cops got their agent back, and the Delaques took a bit of a bruising.

Game 18 - Enforcers vs Cult of the Firehawk redemptionists, unknown Van Saar, and the Dark Brotherhood

Three gangs teamed up to take on the renegade law men, and it was costly for both sides. The entire redemptionist gang was wiped off the board before the Delaques and Van Saar managed to put pay to the Enforcers. The end game was pretty cruel to the Enforcers, who are losing men quickly, even if it doesn’t show in the games!

Games 19 & 20 - Enforcers take on the Lords of Iron of House Orlock

The Lords of Iron prove their mettle against the law men in two games, and despite losing a valuable water still inflict some telling blows to the Enforcers, who keep dieing... it seems that any shots that actually get through that armour are fatal!

Games 21 & 22 - Dark Brotherhood vs the SHITS

The Delaque raid the workplace of the sewer workers, smashing it up and capturing one of the enemy. They go to war again and suffer immense casualties on both sides, with the SHITS in particular losing a territory and 300 off of their gang rating... it’s hard to say if there was a winner in these games, just pure Necromunda ‘everyone’s a loser’ goodness!

We’re all set for our first group narrative game next week, a Purge.

The Purge!

The gangs each had a leader and five delegates take part in the purge, which would be declared successful if the three Wyrds were all killed. Enemies arrived when a counter was flipped over and revealed. Some of the counters were also ambushes, in which the beasts would immediately be in combat with whichever ganger revealed them.

The game was brutal right from the start. The first token flipped was a milliasaur ambush, with three of the beasts taking out the hapless orlock who stumbled across them before charging another two and taking those out... one gang lost half it’s number instantly on the first token and I was beginning to wonder if this purge was a good idea! A giant Radscorpion appeared next but luckily the ganger who found it passed an initiative test and avoided ambush, allowing the rest of his gang to shoot it, even if it was ineffective until the leader killed it with a krak grenade.

The gangs pushed in and tackled the beasts, which was proving a difficult task until people realised that team work was going to be necessary and started drawing monsters out with overwatch (the AI was pretty simple; monster see, monster charge!)

Some casualties started mounting up, the arbites suffering badly at the hands of some brain rapers, and everyone’s favourite cart wheeling, powerfist-having Delaque juve-turned- ganger Judo Juve was bitten to death when he single handedly charged 5 giant rats. The Pitbulls and SHITS were swarmed by bats and lost some members too.

The Wyrds started appearing, and the gangs were able to kill them pretty quickly. Once all gone we decided to mop up the last of the beasts. The last token turned out to be a giant Radscorpion, and our Lords of Iron player was itching to charge it with his famous brawler Bernie ‘Big Mac’ Maccerson. We decided that if he did charge the scorpion in full view of all the gangs he could get the killer rep skill for free.... in he charged and managed to kill the thing. Little did we know he was already horribly scarred, so we decided he would now cause Terror!

The game was a blast and moved pretty well, with a good level of challenge, the gangs really had to work together and play smart to not die, all thoughts of ‘accidentally’ shooting each other quickly evaporated once the monsters started swarming!

Everyone got their bonus territory and some good xp. Each group game like this is a chance for us to look at the campaign and see how it’s going, reign in any gangs that are shooting ahead and boost any that are struggling, but we felt there was no need for that this time.

The campaign is really taking off now with loads of games going on so will only really be tracking the games I play or that I watch on here. Everyone is having a blast with the NCE.230C42B4-73E2-4691-9091-128F75AB844D.png1F9A2445-14B0-49D3-BE1F-48736168B08A.jpeg92EEDCB4-B3E6-444F-ADA0-C2AF88142154.jpeg4E0B705D-492B-4609-86EA-5CF4551B4D7D.jpeg471F51C4-A260-4E37-8FA9-9039F1A193BA.jpeg643480B6-1058-4B26-91DD-D4A6323D0315.jpegF2980084-1160-4CBA-BEE7-C252B512BD71.pngAB812B25-2F95-45E9-A776-93CE6BC095BB.png

Necromunda night

More shenanigans in the garage of dreams!

Dark Brotherhood vs SHITS - gang fight

A quick bottle from the SHITS saved the beleaguered gang from too much damage at the hands of the well equipped Delaques, but a captured ganger would hurt the sewer workers

Pitbulls vs Cult of the Firehawk - scavengers

The Redemptionist Cult have had some good fortune recently and it has been invested in 3 plasma guns. Needless to say they are terrifying, with gouts of flame and plasma flying all over the place. The Goliaths run forward to grab as much loot as they could, getting half of it before mounting casualties forced a retreat.

SHITS vs Cult of Firehawk - gang fight

The poor SHITS were next to take the plasma barrage, taking more casualties before bottling, leaving another ganger in the clutches of the Redemptionists and the gang decimated.

Dark Brotherhood vs Arbites - gang fight

This was a real grudge match, with the leader of the Arbites never quite forgiving the standout Delaque, Judo Juve, for killing his first Mastiff Handler. The Brotherhood’s new autocannon found a good perch and dominated the field, with the arbites struggling to move around and the Delaques slowly closing the noose. Each gang was passing bottle checks as casualties mounted up, and before long it was two arbites huddled behind their rhino at the Delaques closed in. The arbite leader threw down a challenge; him and Judo in a one on one fight, no guns, then the winner took all. Judo instead run away, giving the finger with his powerfist, cementing his reputation as the most irritating ganger in the campaign. The Delaques then failed their next bottle check leaving the arbite leader howling with rage that his nemesis escaped again.

Pitbulls take on the SHITS - gang fight

The SHITS were unable to progress much thanks to my fire section of heavies with heavy bolter and heavy stubber, and leader Dutch Lopez with his boltgun, and the sewer workers were soon funnelled into a killing ground where casualties mounted up and a bottle roll soon came about. The Goliaths jibbed the fur trader contact off of the SHITS, and my bolter heavy picked up a BS increase, so it was a pretty good outcome for my gang who had been taking a bit of a knocking of late.

Pitbulls vs Dark Brotherhood- Hoard

The Delaques has three sentries when my gang charged in, with some early overwatch giving one of my gangers multiple injuries and making my leader break, but some good shooting from my bolter heavy took out the Delaque autocannon, allowing my main force of guys to run up the building where the hoard was and start some combat. I had two valuable gangers hurled off of the roof, but eventually won out and got dug in before the reinforcements arrived. A few more casualties once the reinforcements caused a bottle roll, and the Pitbulls got the loot.

Prepping for the next big game soon, a thunderdome brawl with our best gangers going toe to toe!

The legend of Big Wet Willy

“Call me Ishmael. I’m gonna tell you the tale of Big Wet Willy, so get a mug of maggot cider and pull up a chair boy.”

FAIR WARNING; as is common with our campaign thus far this game soon descended into extended juvenile giggling at nob gags and the battle report reflects this!

My pal set up a monster hunt game for four of us to tackle. The story was that local fishermen had started to disappear and the mayor had commissioned an investigation that led to a monster hunt of Big Wet Willy, mutated fisherman running amok in the bad zones near Sludge Falls.

The game would start as a four way gang fight, with each wounding hit leaving a wound token where the blood had spilled, and once six wounds were dished out Big Willy would appear at a random token, and begin attacking who ever was closest while the gangs teamed up (hmmmm) to take him out.

We each deployed 6 gangers in a corner of the table and got to shooting each other. The SHITS tangled with the Dark Brotherhood on one side of the board, and my Pitbulls took on the Arbites on the other (with a team from each heading to take on the Delaque Brotherhood, because of course). Not thinking ahead at all, we basically took all of each other’s heavies out, greedy for XP and the chance to injure, with the few decent weapons on the board also running dry.

Judo Juve continued to live up to his reputation as a flouncing french duke, cartwheeling and diving around the map impossible to shoot and refusing to engage, tieing up half the SHITS who couldn’t afford to turn away and let the slippery Delaque agent flank them with his power fist (you can probably already guess the fisting gags being cracked at this point). The SHITS leader, BS 6 half cyborg Steve now known as the Super-Visor, completely missed everyone he fired at, leading us to believe the CPU in his skull chip originally came from a digital watch.

The wound tokens started to pile up, with a particular cluster in the middle of my side where the Pitbulls and Arbites has engaged. A robodog savaged one of my gangers out of the game for the final wound counter, and Willy entered the fray with a roar right in the middle of my gang. Completely forgetting he was out of ammo (not that an autogun would have helped), I stepped my awesome ganger Ben Freedom out in front of Big Willy to take a shot. Willy soon charged and took him out.

We called a truce to deal with Big Wet Willy, and it was instantly broken by the Delaques as they continued to shoot at the other gangs and try and charge the SHITS. My heavy ran out of ammo with both weapons and had to sprint away with Willy at his back, nearly walloping him before he squeezed around a corner. He had to keep running back and forth through this bottleneck while the rest of the gangs took shots at the beast, but nothing seemed to hurt him. The four gangs again agreed to work together and the Arbites and SHITS moved to assist the chased Goliath. The delaques moved to murder the rest of my gang with their heavy flamer and blast the SHITS sniper who was the only person to thus far have wounded Big Willy off of his perch, reasoning (correctly) that the Goliaths were going to break the truce and seek some payback anyway (this still doesn’t explain shooting the sniper but hey ho, every campaign needs it’s villains!)

Judo Juve finally moved to engage the distracted SHITS, taking a chance on charging past the most injured man in the campaign, Handyman Harry. The overwatch shot from Harry’s rusty shaking stub gun needed an 8 to hit... we were on the edge of our seats when the first six was rolled... then the five! Judo was at last pinned, and some SHITS capitalised and charged the Delaque, clubbing him out of action.

The Delaques were in a bad way, as were my Goliaths (thanks to the Delaques heavy flamer mainly) as it began to look like Big Willy would repel us from his lair. Figuring it was do or die at this point, the Arbite leader and riot shield dude both charged the monster, the shield guy weathering some blows with Proctor Kaer hacking away with his power sword. With some lucky rolling not only did the pair survive a round of combat but slew the fishy fiend in the second round. Big Wet Willy crashed into the floor, and the gangs collected themselves.

The post game was brutal as I lost two good gangers. I had very few dudes left to work territory so scrimped just about enough to buy another juve to bolster my numbers. I also picked up a Ratskin map as the scenario reward.

We all waited with baited breath to find out the fate of Judo Juve. The first roll was captured, a fate we had already preagreed would be worse than death for the aggravating Delaque! Luckily the gang medic must have done a one man rescue mission and Judo rerolled... Head Wound! The leader decided his fate straight away; sold to slavers. We had to plead with him to not let Judo’s story end this way, and after some grumbling Judo had a lobochip pressed into his brain to fight another day and have a proper death.

The body of the beast was strung up to cure by the locals (no sense wasting good meat) but disappeared overnight. Will Big Wet Willy rise again? We hope night... it was hard enough the last time.

Sludge Falls! Funny, that's what I call the town of my own little imaginary dome of the Underhive. :giggle: Is it just a coincidence, or is there some lore or some such around naming a settlement like that?
Oh, and Big Wet Willy... Yep, sounds just juvenile enough. ;)

3 way gang fight - Pitbulls vs Dark Brotherhood vs Lords of Iron

A tussle out in the bad zones, I took quick casualties and bottles pretty quick leaving the Delaques and Orlocks to duke it out... but not before I managed to toss Judo Juve off of a gantry after he charged 3 of my guys taking the first two out, and I took him out after a weedy 3” fall. He rolled partially deafened, which after the lobochip reduced his Int to 0, forcing retirement! We waited with bated breath as the medic reroll dice thundered across the table... 2 sixes! Judo went from retirement to getting an advance, the feint skill adding to his irritating abilities. The campaign bad guy continues to cause hilarity.

Now the Brotherhood have been seen hanging around the offices of the Big Great Bugle.

Judo Juve tumbling off the walkway like a champ! Love it when a character like that just seems to come to life.
Yeah Judo has definitely been the breakout star of the campaign. And the guy who runs the gang has played it brilliantly, Judo is a combat master but often just runs around taunting people rather than engaging just cause it aggravates everyone so much!

The Big Great Brawl

The one night tournament to find out the hardest man in Big Great took place and it was hysterical. My leader bowed out early (of course) but the rules one of our players put together made the whole thing engaging as we took turns pelting each other with rocks or odd weapons between rounds. A classic night, even if I did lose a weapon skill on my leader. The Dark Brotherhood continued their shenanigans as well, someone coming out with more money than anyone after multiple losses.
