N18 Beginners Question Box

Hi all. Tell me about the legendary names of Orlok.
If I take a character with Gang Hierarchy (X), will he get both a skill and a name? Or should I choose just the skill or just the name?
Here's what it says in the book:
• Any fighter with the Gang Hierarchy (X) specialrulemay choosea Legendary Name when they arerecruited, as well as choosing a skill (as described intheir profile)

Thanks

Looks like Leader and Champs start with skill + Legendary Name. All fighters that can buy skills can also buy Legendary names.

So we played our first game of NeoMunda Friday night with some stumbling. I swear, the new 'Munda would have been damn near unplayable if not for being able to look up random things up the internet.

Want to confirm something.... Say a model takes damage to bring them to zero wounds, roll the Injury dice, rolls a Flesh Wound, they would be pinned/prone since they were hit, but they are not taken out of action even though they have zero wounds?

On their next activation they can perform two actions like a pinned model that has not been wounded? Stand and Move or Stand and Shoot, etc?

Any additional wounds they receive they roll the Injury dice again and on the 3rd time being Flesh Wounded they are removed?

Also; Can a pinned/prone model be targeted by shooters to give them more wounds in hope to "take them out"?

Lastly, where does Hive Mind want me to put images of the fights and such? Terrain and Minis?

First of all great way to utilize different terrain. Some old school stuff mixed in there too!

When getting that flesh wound, the fighter basically goes back to 1 wound. Ie. pinned as you say, but still in the fight due to flesh wound. Ready to activate as normal! The flesh wound gives -1 Toughness so for most fighters (starting with Toughness 3) that means 3x flesh wounds = 0 Toughness --> Out of Action

Additional wounds suffered gives new injury rolls.

Pinned/prone models can be targeted by any attacks and inflict more damage and injury rolls. Shoot them when they lie down! Keep in mind a few notes:
  • -1 hit modifier when target is pinned & in long range (of the weapon).
  • In Hiding: If both Prone (Pinned or Seriously injured) AND in cover (partial or full), the model can't be targeted.

Okay perfect! That's what we did but looking at the books we had it wasn't super intuitive to us and I couldn't find anything using the search terms I was using. We only have what comes in the Hive Wars and Dark Uprising box sets plus a few online resources.

I love the old school terrain and new stuff made with the bulkheads. Back in the OldMunda days we had a bunch of stuff that was so cool but I never thought to take pictures of everything back then. Sometimes it haunts me while I'm trying to go to sleep, wondering where all that stuff went.

Eventually I'll sprinkle in some more of the newer stuff as I get it completed, but probably a lot of stuff from my formative years will get recreated.

@rustedchrome @TopsyKretts beat ke to it but yes to all of your questions. It seems you are doing it all right, and if you can’t find a rule in the middle of a game I suggest writing down the question to answer later and just doing what you think seems right for the game.

As for posting up your photos I would suggest making your own hobby thread in the Hobby Central > Minitures and Terrain sub forum. Plenty of yakkers have their own photo blogs (plogs) where they post about their hobby shenanigans that you can take a look at and use for inspiration.

Hi again. Tell me, if I hire a Hive Scum or a Bounty Hunter, do I pay only his recruitment cost or also pay for all his equipment? Thanks

Anyone got a good suggestion for modifying necromunda for young kids (a 5 year olds). I think im going to buy the delaque vs escher set (still have the 90s rules, bulkheads and at least 2 of every Van Saar metal mini + lots of scum, raisins, bounty hunters etc - but not planning to use any of it).

Figure that new set has tokens, dice, minis, rules and a bit of scenery & I will build a nice table + GM a 3mini vs 3mini game.

Any other suggestions (I have not played "new" version yet).

It depends to what extent you want it to be the Necromunda rules (albeit modified) or whether you'd settle for the Necromunda setting with different rules. If the latter, then I believe One Page Rules have some kind of gang fight/skirmish rules that may be sufficiently simplified. Five is pretty young though.

Honestly my 5yo gets it pretty easily, but we play lots of board games.

The only thing to make it easier is to make the gangs smaller, arm everyone the same, and limit simplify damage. It also helps to have one of those clear plastic range rulers so that they can measure with it.

Id suggest playing games with 3-4 fighters each to capture 5 loot boxes in the middle and return them to your base where each model only has one wound but gets to respawn from the base at the start of each turn.

Just don’t expect any great strategy from your kid. Mine just wants to shoot my guys and remove them from the board.

sorry guys - taken a look but ended up confused…

Current state of play - is the only difference (of substance) between buying a new hardback rule book and the one from the Ash Wastes box set that the hardback contains dominion campaigns, and the Ash Waste one also includes vehicle rules (general)?

Assuming someone was coming back to the fold fresh and just reconnecting with the current rule set after previously having used NCE.

Thanks in advance

Yes. And no. There are several other smaller differences. And the new Ash Wastes rulebook references rules in the old hardback rulebook at least once :p

If you are having your first games in this edition it won't matter much.

If I was starting fresh I would be getting the either of the hard cover rulebook or the Ash Wastes book (with a preference for the Ash Wastes rulebook because it includes the basic vehicle rules and a random selection of errata).

If you end up getting the hard cover rulebook then all the basic vehicle rules plus the “advanced” vehicle rules (that let you actually buy and build vehicles) are in the expansion book Book of Outlands.

The only thing you will miss getting the hardcover rulebook and the expansion book is the vehicle campaign and some of the vehicle scenarios but they aren’t that hard to make up.

How to trading post discounts (e.g. savvy trader/tech marchant) interact with items already on house lists? Does it make a difference if the house list price is the standard price or already cheaper?

Cheers!

That makes sense. So the result is buy it any time at gang cost or discount from TP (if common or found).

That is how I would read it, though for Yaktribe purposes you would have to buy it at the fighter level and then manually adjust your credits otherwise it will use the trading post cost to calculate your gang rating.

Noobish question about the Orlock Outrider Quads: Do I need to use the bases that come with them? All of the pictures I've seen of them have no bases, but the kit comes with oval bases for them. I couldn't find anything in the rules saying vehicles must have a base or anything like that.
