I'm sure I read somewhere that inorganic targets can't be set on fire. I can't remember where, and it doesn't say in the blaze rules. This has popped up regarding an ambot, being inorganic. Did I dream this, or does it actually say somewhere?

YAQ just says "YAQ: Inorganic targets, like doors cannot be set ablaze." and ambots are not purely organic, they even come with a respirator. So I think they are treated like any other target.
There's a lot in RAW that doesn't really make much sense when applied to ambots since it wasn't all written with machines (I know there's a brain etc encased inside) in mind. Like an ambot being effected by toxins when it won't even have a circulatory system, or being pinned by a round from an auto pistol. I get balance and all, but I'll probably house rule some stuff relating to them in campaigns I arbitrate. I don't want them to be broken or OP, but just have them make actual sense.

Once you go down that path... You wouldn't apply the same to Iron Automata? Hardcase Cyber-mastiff? If not stunned from auto pistol, will it be stunned from Seismic?

I mean, if you wanted to take a fluff rationale for it, Ambots (and cybermastiffs/sheen birds/other cybernetic animals) still have an animal brain in there, and therefore a reaction to seeing flames/being set ablaze is likely to be largely instinctual. Blaze still causes damage after all.

If I was to modify blaze at all I'd consider allowing a Cool check on the model to avoid running around randomly, allowing them to instead either move at half speed or just stay still and "stop drop and roll" to represent a model overcoming their panic and trying to get into cover whilst frantically slapping out fires.

The Cyborg assassin from the Murder Cyborg scenario (RB page 178) does have a special rule that makes it immune to Flash, Gas, Toxin and the control-impairing side of Blaze (it also cannot be Pinned). You could house-rule something similar for other not-completely-organic fighters.

That's precisely what I had in mind for the ruling. The Blazing Faith skill for Cawdor is similar. Blaze still damages, but they continue to act normally.

AI is verboten in the Imperium. That's why the Cyborg is a "Murder" Cyborg. Ambots are organic. Plus, take it from me, when you set an opponent's Ambot ablaze and it runs around randomly for three turns, you will be laughing AT your opponent, not WITH him. There ain't no rule that says Ambots are immune.
