Over the last nine months I’ve been working with some others on creating some modular card based building terrain to be used in 28mm tabletop miniature games. We’re now at the point of reaching a finalized functioning prototype and would like to gauge the greater community to evaluate the level of interest in us producing these for sale and on what scale.

As such I’ve made a survey, https://goo.gl/forms/ZR7Z5eTmopGPHJPt2 ,which can be easily filled out in around 5-7 mins, that would help us hugely in bringing this product to market. Calling out to all those who have any curiosity in such a project to please fill out, share and notify us of your interest.

Thank you!

I've filled it out. I'd also like to say, if you are able to make replacement card terrain for fitting into the bulkheads for those of us with lots of bulkheads sitting around that'd be ace!

Are you intending to have replicas of the 40k and Necromunda buildings?
Hi, thanks for helping out with the survey and the interest. Short answer, no. This will stand completely on its own. Having said that the scale should allow it to work together easily enough with the older buildings you mentioned.

Cheers, thanks for your assistance. As we're using a far thicker card stock for durability it unfortunately won't fit those old bulkheads. Hopefully once more info/pictures are posted of it though, you'll find them appealing.

In a general question.
in that case... to me, a 'good' amount is so you can get a 4x4 board covered with 2 levels over 60% of the board and 3 over 20% (the remaining 20 is 1st floor or ground only). Alot would therefore be enough to do 3-4 levels high over the entire board.

I get this might be more than average though :p

why ya sorry dude? :-s

sounds good! think my gw card has maybe 6 months-year left in its tired ol self, so some replacements on the horizon sounds good to me!

I think we're on two minds about what a good amount of terrain is. While I can't say our core kit would quiet reach that level, I think it will come pretty close.

A good subsitute for card is a product available at most hobby shops, "Plasticard" polystyrene sheets. These cut easily, are available in many thicknesses. and will stick to bulkheads with model cement. I often use super glue though as I paint them first. Super glue holds well, and if you change your mind a firm pull will loosen it up. I have replicated the Necro bulkheads aud nauseum. Used up 500 bulkheads though. :) Each of the bulkheads I have replicated and used in a unique building. The triangular one with a hole in it for example is 5 layers deep and forms a large open area in the middle, like a 3d combat arena. The square or "cross" looking one is combined alternating with the small square is 9 levels high and 4 crosses and three squares long. The Oulander building is several layers deep on the lower large part and several layers on the tower. I have also done this with the Storm of Vengeance expansion from 2nd edition. Each of these unique buildings backs up to a "hive wall" 9 feet a few inches long and 7 bulkheads tall. These are model cemented, super glued, and for some joints in the wall I use medium sized binder clips. In the ash wastes zone outside the hive there are the old 40k card buildings, the Bastion, Firebase, Command Tower, Imperial Guard Command Bunker, another Storm of Vengeance, 3 battle bunkers from the Battles book, and a set of Ancient Imperial Temple, Eldar Monolith looking thing, and an Orky Tower to throw grots off of when you are bored. :) After I have a place to put all this on a playing table the plasticard will produce more reproduction buildings. Planet Necromunda is moving to my barn. :)

Plasticard was an idea thrown around in the initial stages of development and while I'm a huge fan of it it doesn't really suit straight out of the box play which is one of the goals we really wanted to push. Looking forward to seeing atable with the set up you mentioned though as sounds cool.

Don't worry, If your core set comes 'close' I'll be impressed. I'm already resigned to the fact that based on whats already on the amrket I'd be looking at getting 2 'core' sets of what most folk think is about right in order to get to the level we're used to in our group

Right there. It takes quite a while to glue together the bracing and magnets. The whole structure is too wobbly without connecting the gangways to the buidings with magnets. Assembly is easier though. Good luck with the project though, its a good idea as the bulkheads last and the original card...probably not.

yeah, my only issue with that is I need to be able to flatpack stuff... so glueing structures together is a bit no no

The thing is also, while packing them they pull apart somewhat. Enough to allow a lot to be packed in an old steamer trunk. The rest in a moving box meant to allow clothes to be hung in them. Then label them with Fragile and toss them wherever you want next to a leg lamp. Someday reassembly will be rewarding. For now in a box..

One of the driving factors in development of this project from the start was the ability disassemble and store back in a flat state. It is something me and several other people I game with really require as we don't, unfortunately, have dedicated areas set up purely for playing.

Sounds very nice, especially the flat--packed Part! Will this be on Kickstarter? Will you deliver to costumers in Europe?

Can you make one like a,,,say,,,a 3 foot diameter origami concept?
