Here's my efforts at making terrain. The multi-platform terrain was in no small part inspired by Kendachi's terrain.
I'd been accumulating the resources to make some modular terrain using magnets to keep everything together and was debating the best way to go about it when I read Kendachi's post and felt his method was most agreeable. Most agreeable indeed.

Having posted numerous pics on Kendachi's post I felt I was hijacking it a bit so have started my own to post my WIP shots and what not. Thanks for reading, and check Kendachi's stuff out. He's got about a square miles worth of terrain. His games must be awesome!

Also, thanks to AndyT81, I believe someone asked him via his plog how he does his immaculate rust effects on his terrain and he generously passed on his secret which I have applied liberally here! I kind of forgot to give the man credit for sharing this technique! For shaaaaame!

My campaign takes place in a part of the hive known as The Narrows, this is a part of the hive where the planets surface is exposed and has seen heavy mining over the centuries leaving it a burnt out wasteland. Some settlements remain though and the hardy people eke out a living on what few minerals they can mine and forage. I designed the map so it would encompass many styles of terrain to make things a bit more interesting. The first place I started to make is Tombstone, an outlaws hideaway where the law of the imperium is a running joke and criminals and outlaws gather to plot their next score. I started with the saloon. This was inspired by some of the work by Viv at rubbishinrubbishout on YouTube. His work is unreal, check him out!

Edit- I've had the saloon thread combined with my other terrain thread so it's all in one place. Feel free to post your own endeavours!

Re: Necromunda saloon

The saloon is called 'The Genestealers Arms'. The spiel is that it is run by an ex- Imperial Guardsman whose unit was decimated by a Genestealer attack. He was the sole survivor and brought back one of his kills as a trophy. He was pensioned out of service due to catastrophic psychological damage and ended up setting up this saloon in tombstone.

Re: Necromunda saloon

Here it is with the front walkway on. It's a replica of the saloon in armadillo on red dead redemption. That's also the name of my redemptionist crusade when I get it going!

Re: Necromunda saloon

Just saying, but the last survivor of a genestealer attack would probably have not been let go, since he'd have most likely been given the "kiss"...

At best, he'd be indefinitely detained pursuant to a thorough bio-scan and experimentation, then maybe not even released then...

Unless it's part of your campaign for genestealers on the planet...

Re: Necromunda saloon

I can give it to you on the highest authority that his quarantine revealed no signs of impregnation. His unit fought bravely and he himself killed four genestealers, two of which who were dispatched after all his comrades were killed. Although physically sound, serious mental impairment has occurred. His behaviour can be... erratic. There are rumours about what happens to some of the girls who work his rooms, and their clients... sometimes the beer tastes a bit funny...

Hahahaha, trecherous conditions while in the saloon?
Love it, well done!

Re: Necromunda saloon

Cheers lads, I'm going to put his trophy 'stealer in the bar and at some point have a zombie plague outbreak in the settlement. Zombie genestealer goodness? Oh go on then.

Re: Necromunda saloon

Love it. The genestealer will get his revenge on the bar owner after all!

Cool, well made terrain. Really nice to see someone go with a wild west theme.

Re: Necromunda saloon

I was thinking this stuff would be great to make up some sort of Tremors-esque scenario to play on this terrain, with blast markers representing the beasts when they surface and juves being used to bait them so the boys can blast them from the safety of the rooftops!

Re: Necromunda saloon

You could have the beasts attack the buildings and anyone on the roof gets scattered so they can fall off and have to make a run for another building! Oh god this game could be great. I'm going to write some rules up and play test it then stick them up on here.

Re: Necromunda saloon

Damn it i was thinking of doing a whole settlement with a bar/saloon and looks like you have done a very good job with that i was thinking of having a bar with shelves full of bottles but not sure where id get the same scale bottles from

Re: Necromunda saloon

After reading your last post Kardikus, I just had to go and check. If you go to Ebay and do a search for miniature bottle in the Dollhouse Miniatures section you can actually find a few selections of bottles that would actually work. You can also try and ask people that play WHFB Empire if you can have the bottles from the State Troops Command Sprue also.

Dollhouse stuff can be a surprising source of all sorts of in-scale decorations and furniture. Seen it used on Mordheim stuff to great effect.

Re: Necromunda saloon

I made my own brandy bottles and what not by using beads from the jewellery section of the (not so) local hobby superstore. I used a pin, with the head as a cap, and dropped some small beads for the neck and then a large one for the main body of the bottle, and dropped a blob of superglue down the shaft of the pin to glue it all together, then snipped the excess pin off with my clippers. Here's a pic with a model to scale. I'm going to change the colours with watered down coloured pva washes, and by buying some different style beads but they look okay. Cheap as anything to make also!
