New thread for Warhammer fest, please?

I think the Orlocks are going a little overboard with the drum magazines on everything, even flamers...? Not a huge fan of most of the items in the weapon pack.

Pets and new mercs are great, though, as is the Cawdor art!

I like the look of the molotov cocktails on the cawdor's belt and the improvised bayonet, looks like they are going with the crazed scrap merchant more the the KKK.

Also, with the whole garbage collector thing (which I think is new?), they seem to be carving a better place for Cawdor than their previous “not quite Redemptionists” theme.

Yeah unless it was buried in one of the novels then I haven't seen it before. In fairness they weren't redemptionist light until the redemptionists came out...

I'm hoping that they will make them a true horde style gang. The van saar list opened up the whole house custom versions of weapons (suppression laser = shotgun). It might be cool if cawdor got a range of "salvaged weapons" cheaper but less accurate and or more likely to fail ammo rolls.

The Cawdor seem a little strange to me right now, as well as being redemption lite, they are now scavvy lite too. The suggestion that they should have cheeper and less reliable weapons; well, that was the original rules for Scavvies.

I personally think it's a good thing back in the original there was no real distinction between the original gangs, yes it came out a bit in skills but not massively. You had to go to outlanders for any real "character" in terms of rules equipment etc. Now we have Goliaths that are close combat monsters from the get go, Escher that are a glass cannon, orlock that are the every man gang, and vansaar that are ranged shooting specalists. All from the start.

A horde aquitype would be a welcome addition to the mix in my opinion and I'ich rather have it now in plastic than a year's time in resin from forge world, maybe...

They can have cheaper and less reliable gangers though. WS5+ all around, M4 (rickets is a thing), low Int and Cl but high Wil, all potentially mitigated by leaders with an extra faith-based rule or who start with an extra leader skill. Also maybe cult icons to boost faith (Cl) in a radius, probably borne by champions.

I'm thinking they took inspiration from GoT's Sparrows when they made Cawdor. The idea of a bunch of unwashed masses clinging to a mad religious cult and being used as a House's gang is interesting.

Was looking at Jes Goodwin's Nercromunda concept sketches in his Gothic and Eldritch book and was struck by how similar the sketches are to the new minis, especially the Goliaths and Orlocks. Please excuse the crappy photos... Goliath on the right even has the furnace plate

Not a lot of similarity with the Cawdor sketch and the new Cawdor art, but I'm really hoping that the Delaques are at least similar to his Delaque sketches (bottom pic).

That Cawdor guy in the sneak peak have arms skinny enough to fit a female, so hope of a mixed gender gang is still possible.

Also they kinda remind me of Beggar's Sect in Chinese Wuxia, they dress in rag and look poor, but they are not exactly poor. They can charge the other Houses for collecting their garbage and earn hefty amount of credit.

I’m afraid to say but they will be an all male gang. I was in the first seminar for specialist games and this was confirmed. The background will fit all male. Escher all female. Whilst Orlocks are currently having 3 female gangers sculpted and Goliaths preciously was confirmed had one being sculpted and was said they could have them. I believe it was said Delaque would have females but I can’t 100% remember I’m just pretty sure it was said.

So sounds like 4 gangs will have makes and females, Escher will be all female and Cawdor all male.

Personally not a fan of the new Cawdor look o_O I thought it was a Scavvy when it first appeared in my Facebook feed. Their new (or well hidden) fluff is that they are the recycling centre of Necromunda, so I guess it fits.

However, I was not a fan of old Cawdor either, so I was never going to be an easy sale with the new ones. To me Cawdor were just a source of Juve models for my Redemptionists.

Gang War 4 is going to make bounty hunters more desirable. No exact rules confirmed but if you take a BH he will gain you creds by taking fighters out so can help pay his fee. It sounded like there were other ideas being tested so nearer the time we should see the benefits but this was brought up as part of my question on ‘I know Andy thinks BH’s versatility/flexibility makes them powerful’ but I don’t know anyone that is using them because of extreme cost and that’s a shame because the models are gorgeous’. I also mentioned paying a champions cost vs simply buying a champion as another example of why it doesn’t work.

They also discussed that BH’s won’t stay with you forever they could leave so clearly this is different to current where they leave after 1 game.

It sounded like it was understood and clearly examples were given of how they are trying to change it.

I would imagine GW4 must be on way to the printers now so I don’t think they can do any more now than what they have done for GW4 but hopefully it will be a step in the right direction.

So gang war 4 will make gang war 2 almost completely redundant? o_O
Cawdor gangs being all male fits the existing fluff from the Necromunda novels. I do hope that they will put at least one female Delaque on the Delaque gang sprue though. My gang always had at least one lady in it's number.

I’m a Cawdor man myself and I like the look of these. I totally agree with the hopes that these guys will be able to mob, they’re essentially cultists anyway so having them move forwards in throngs would be really cool and fit the current scheme of dramatically different play styles for each house.

Interestingly, some time ago @Blood Donor amd myself had been working on an idea for new skill tree structures and house specific perks that unfortunately fizzled out. An idea for Cawdor was going to be making the 50% Juve limit a requirement, and suspending the nerve tests if the model triggering it was an injured Juve. I believe a BS penalty may have been on the cards (I have this stuff written in a book somewhere), and the theory was to encourage Cawdor to field mobs where they have loads of Juve meatshields that soak up damage and swarm H2H while the more experienced guys manoeuvre to better positions. Of course, the xp system would have had to be tweaked to prevent farming Cawdor gangs, but that’s moot now I suppose.
