Cawdor/GW4 Speculations/Discussions

I thought the plastic releases for BB were meant too finish after goblins, rather than releases stopping completely? There were plans for resin teams too.

As for the lack news the FW open day is relatively soon so you'd imagine we'll see a lot of new stuff there.

Seeing new stuff is one thing, but it would be nice to have some ETA on all the stuff we have already seen (Orlock and Van Saar weapon packs, exotic beasts and a few extra hired guns all have been previewed weeks if not months ago and still no news of when they'll become available).

Do you have a source for this? or is it your conjecture? Not a problem either way but that is very interesting that it was planned to finish after deathzone 2. I had assumed the magazine release was so that they didn't have to do full deathzones for each new teams.

I reckon there will be a number of sets by forgeworld, as things like hangers on will be right in the production area they excel at, small batches of fancy/detailed models

It's from people asking GW at conventions. The Pro Elf was first revealed in August( 3 months after Goblin) in prototype 3d , and then painted prototype shot one week later, with the plasic kit sighting in late September, and the release in December, it would never took that long if they had it on the calendar. The Elf team also mark the start of a complete shift of in kit direction for blood bowl : kit are packed to the brim and is no longer push fit. As the original CAD designer had move on to do other project (probably push fit kit also)

The Elven Union kit is also the most unique one because of how modular it is. Whoever design this probably overdone it. Needless to say the 7 months wait is well worth it.

As for Blood bowl, the "relese valve" is not shut, they literally hire more people to do a wave 2 for the game, The release schedule is 4 teams a year( on par with Necromunda), with dice, card, team pitch, FW Big guy, star player, team booster, cheerleaders (in the future) and even have a magazine now. Blood bowl was suppose to end after Goblin, but the profit made GW come back and do more team ASAP, they have to call in sculptor from other team to help.
Yeah it was an overstatement that the there would be nothing more. For one year, there hasn't been much for Blood Bowl, only 2 random teams and some minor optional rules. Images and rumours have existed for almost a year for releases to complete some of these teams, but there's been nothing actually happening. Just rumours. It remains to be seen how much more we'll see from Blood Bowl the rest of 2018. Dark Elves are certain, other than that we don't know.

For Necromunda, we probably got a semi busy schedule for the rest of the year.

And yes, the recent drought as sedits say may make it seem worse than it is. We've been very spoiled for Necromunda so far this year.

Indeed. Though that was to be expected. There’s always a push after a game system is released as the B.B. talk above alludes. It had a flurry of stuff, then died down. If it’s picked up again it’s because it’s been profitable.

Necromunda though is still mid-push. Two gangs and a host of extras left to release. Once that’s gone... downtime. Don’t forget Adeptus Titanicus is on the horizon! It will take focus next.

The real test will be after the AT push. Will N17 have proved profitable enough to ramp up a new wave of production or will it limp on with occasional support*.

I guess we’ll find out but as I’ve written here numerous times N17 is good ‘til 2020.

*I guess what’s telling here is Andy H’s assertion that Outlanders will arrive but not until after new stuff. That kinda makes me think if a second plastic wave comes it’ll be them. If it doesn’t... well, the downtime is filled with new resin releases.

I also wonder how much of the downtime will be filled with shared minis the same way GSC and Chaos weren't dedicated to Necromunda. Granted I'm fairly new to GW games so don't know much about how much overlap there could be with 40k or games like Rogue Trader coming out, but it's a thought especially since they've already done it.

I haven't played much other GW games lately, but there has been some overlap earlier, for example Space Hulk could with minor modifications be used in 40k. GorkaMorka in its entirety was completely acceptable in 40k (that's a long time ago though). The cults seems to be more of an opportunity, kind of weird actually. Because they don't sell key parts of these gangs any longer (Aberrants and the Chaos characters). Which made the rules a big bonus for whoever sell these at ebay. Or a bonus to those lucky enough to have the original sets. Neither which GW would make much money of.

From my experience, generally anything 28mm can be used across systems from a similar setting. You can also convert some things up from the other universes too (such as my Inquisitorial Death cultitsts from 2003ish, who started life as Dark Elf assassins)

New GSC including full kit of Aberrants on the way, on display at GWHQ, check the GSC thread in Tribe News ;)

I meant specifically models that GW would use to write gang/model rules like in White Dwarf, or for Ogryns in gang wars 3

That's good news, but much too late for me:

I hope this artwork makes it into one of the Necromunda books eventually. This really should have been in the rulebook, there just isn't enough artwork of the setting. They have focused so much on just rules in the gang war books stuff like this has been neglected. There isn't even a visual depiction of a hive city/spire in any of the books. Maybe they will surprise us and it'll show up in gang war 4, but if not hopefully in gw5 or a compilation book like the blood bowl almanac later on.

I would totally buy a Collected Art of Necromunda, showing things from maps, to Hive Noble Portraits, quick dirty sketches of ‘territory’s’, concept art, the world.

Dont think I've ever heard anyone accuse the devs of being too focused on rules before. :D

But I agree. No map no spire pics, even a teaser of the space station port expansion that's due next year would of been nice.

Heck I dont think there is 1 action scene just character profile sketches. Think this has been mentioned in the sump.

Really hope we get some Cawdor surprise today.

Now that KT is out of the bag, GW should RIP the bandage off N17, release cawdor and delaque and be done with it.

Not to mention fix all the things they have broken along the way. I'm still hoping on vain they will release an FAQ before the start of our campaign.

And Outlanders... I'm only really, really waiting around for Pit Slaves... it's not much to ask for...
If sales for N17 go well you’ll probably get a plastic sprue of bodies and arms. If they don’t, expect an £18 bag of some cyberised arms and heads designed to fit the gang plastics. /cynic
