Cawdor/GW4 Speculations/Discussions

I'd like it if they updated the scenarios from Underhive and Gang War 1 with a free PDF as it is errata... but instead we have to buy an expansion. Other than that, Gang War 4 and the surrounding releases are all great, and those Cawdor dice are the best looking ones so far... rust and corrosion swirls!

Very excited reading the FB post with the new campaign system I hope they'll make a digital campaign map with it too.

Also hoping on an almanac, but I'm afraid I'll have to cope with a post-it referencing system :(

Interesting that GW4 is basically gonna replace the current campaign system. Imagine trying to get a new person into Necromunda now. They have to come up with a Definitive Rules Edition once all the House gangs are out surely?

N17 is on a quarterly schedule, and it started in November, so GW4 was always gonna be released in August. I can also predict that GW5 and Delaque will be released next November and then... here be dragons.
Releasing KT18 right in the middle of N17 release is a questionable decision indeed, but honestly I'd rather get KT18 as soon as possible. A fix of well-written rules won't hurt before delving once again in the madness that are N17 rules :p

As for GW4 content, I'm mainly 'meh'. I mean, it's fine that they are finally fixing stuff like skirmish and the facepalm-inducing underdog reputation bonus, but this is FAQ-stuff, not paid-expansion stuff. Oh well, looks like it's yet another book I'll have to borrow from a friend will waiting for an hypothetical post-GW5 compendium.
Still, looking forward to the new campaign format and bionics (though mainly because I wonder how they made them work with the N17 lasting injuries that are not marked on the fighter card)

I think there’s a place for both.

I’ve played map campaigns and they’re great fun, but they are demanding in terms of commitment and quite proscriptive in terms of who you play and when. Which can be a problem if some people have not so great availability, or get sick of playing the same person over and over competing for the same territory.

If you have different levels of commitment or availability in the group, or want greater choice and variety in who you fight, the existing campaign system works better.

So I think the two can coexist quite nicely.

New Campaign sounds interesting. Sounds more dynamic than the current campaign. I'd rather they didn't waste time on skirmish, but like the fact that they're trying to fix things a bit (although that could end up feeling like we're paying for a fix that should have been free).

I'm assuming there was no sign of any of the large backlog of still missing Forgeworld models at the open day though? No Ambots or Ogryns? No pets?

I conglomerated some images from FW open day:

Thank you for the wonderful pics! Recaciltrant gaze on twitter also had these:

I'm trying to count the arms - I have a few Frostgrave cultists I think could mix well with this range...I just hope there are spare arms :D

Making a Necromunda kit is a struggle, constantly brainstorming about how to fit 5 guy and a bunch of weapons into a single, tiny sprue.

This one look properly packed, mainly because I can't find the area they wasted to include all of those oversize grenade bits.

Looking over the sprues, there are three crypto-custodes staff weapons, the giant crossbow with its staff/stock, then hands with hand flamer, staff/banner, ball and chain, at least two knives (one bone, one blade), two autopistols (l and r), two stubguns (l and r), autogun held in both hands and one Molotov cocktail in left hand, as well as a seperate, handless knife/sword.

In addition, two heads with hoods, and the rest are slot on heads most like the goliaths.

Looking forward to converting!!!

That almost at this point seems to be the business model. I half-suspect the early FAQ was mostly because there was such online moaning they decided to push it out to quieten down things.

I didn’t see any. I saw lots of things but they weren’t there. (Those little titans are so cute!)

There was mostly a push on this next wave of stuff, so Adeptus Titanicus was heavily represented.

Blood Bowl was previewing it’s plastic Dark Elf Team and the FW cheerleaders for Human, Ork (hilarious!!) and Chaos (all available to buy early) plus Dark Elves (oddly not available to buy) and Necromunda had the Cawdor, their dice and cards, GW4, the expansion wad of cardboard stuff for campaigns and a lovely Huntress.

Its sounding good, very happy that they are doing updated skirmish rules to form the basis of pick up and play games / tounies (that said the London GT rules did a pretty good job).

Also happy the narrative style scenarios are continuing. The killer cyborg is a reference to the original studio campaign.
New campaign sounds cool aswell all in all sounds good

Kinda bummed there aren't spare molotov cocktails to put on the waist of the gangers, (maybe they can do those as a resin bit) the sprue seems more limited than the van saar sprue despite being packed. The staff weapons better be useful in game otherwise they are a huge waste of space.

I think this picture cover every arms that you can use in the kit.

All arms should be compatible to all bodies without the need of converting them. I hope this is the only kit with this problem. Imagine buying the very pricey FW Cawdor weapon pack and have to slice some of the hand from the arm. YIKES!
