Cawdor/GW4 Speculations/Discussions

And, looking at the AoS stuff, it seems they've finally succeeded in crossbreeing banshees and hormagaunts...

Previews on gang war tommorow . Hopefully the campaign system will be better than turf war and the psker rules are cool!

Also the cawdor are really starting to grow on me now they have sorted out how to display the gang!

The old photo looks like they cranked up the brightness and saturation way too much. I wasn't expecting to see rules for psykers in this book, moreso the one with Delaque.

The one thing turning me off of this cawdor gang is they seem cheap and horde based, and I like Necromunda cause I could collect and paint fewer models. If they are like Escher where you start with 7-9 in your crew then that's okay. But i'd prefer to not end up with a gang running up to 15-20 models. With the limited built options in this kit compared to van saar I think they will get repetitive quick. I mean what you see in that picture is about all the build options and customization you can get out of the two sprues. And the arms do not seem as interchangeable between bodies. You can give the leader a blunderbuss on that staff instead of the icon, but the icon might be worth taking if you're going overseer and sitting back buffing nearby gangers.

I'll be interested to see the actual list for how cawdor are "cheaper" at the moment the following standard for cheap is set by the Escher lasgun ganger.

How cawdor are going to top that I don't know.

I would be genuinely interested to see the cawdor models in the flesh to see which photo is more accurate. At the moment I imagine the xonversconve going "damn it Carl it's called the grim dark for a reason wtaf are these guys shiner than high eleves?"

Even Sigmarine leaders strike a pose with an ammo box...

Cawdor dice look nice, and I'm glad that finally there are rules coming for psykers; hopefully that will lead to some ace models released, and pave the way for pit slaves. It's a pretty safe bet that psykers will be FW released, but when pit slaves come, I hope we get a plastic kit.

Not a fan of separate terrain cards, and not sure I'll buy into the book until I've had a look at the rules. Also want to see how Cawdor scale up with poxwalkers, GSC, and Orlock, as despite the (still dreadful) GW sales pitch, really customizing these minis is going to take some chopping.

EDIT: How rigid do you think their cowl material is meant to be? If you want to do some interesting arm poses, areas of that are going to need to be resculpted, and I'm not quite sure how to approach it, yet. Looks like it's meant to be some tough, leathery stuff? Doesn't look like it should be flexible, but they still need to fight.

I don't think they're meant to be anything too specific. Some of them look quite flexible - the leader's and the knife-and-polearm guy's - while others look quite stiff. One could paint them as either cloth or leather and it wouldn't look out of place.

For a particularly gruesome twist, one could even sculpt some ragged edges and paint them as human skin. :D

I'm pretty sure the leaders "icon" is actually a halberd.

And the leaders body looks like it is the same one as the super rambo crossbow, but with extra robes on the arms and a number of the other duplicate bodies have arms in completely different poses and directions so I am interested to see how they actually connect the arms under the shoulder robes or if the shoulder robes are stuck on over the body.

Judging from the pics of the sprue we have, most arms seem to be body specific (some attach at the wrists, others at the elbow...)

Weeeell no one's forcing you to start a Cawdor gang :) You can always go for a Van Saar or Goliath gang if you do prefer something with a somewhat smaller body count. Otherwise, given the stats we've seen so far, I'll bet that those 'crossbows' won't be exactly cheep. So you could always go for several of those if you want a tight crew.

We still don't know how interchangeable things in the set are and there is always the option to convert what you don't like.

I'm a little sad that they seem to be sticking at the same price per ten guys no matter how many guys the gang is encouraged to run. Van Saar, one box and you almost have two gangs. Escher, two boxes is more realistic. Bit of a shame IMO.

I assume it's a bit of an FAQ update to skills,

Scenarios sound very cool, I find it inerestinte that the skirmish rules gang creation covers two pages and tournament play covers 5 pages. In comparison initial psker rules are three pages

The real question is who's gonna go first and order this - then report back to everyone else that things are all good (y)
:D

-sorry no gw store or anything nearby to be able to flip through the book. Just crazy excited that it seems that N17 is finally in good hands and is going to shine like the diamond we always new it to be.
