My first draft for updating the old Chaos Cultist Covens and Becoming a Cult rules from the ORB era to present. I saw Anthony's rules which seemed clean, but I still wanted to give it a go. I like the cult rules for gang story-progression, similar to the leadership challenges and all that good stuff.

It is pretty clear that they are strictly better than Redemptionists, but I know that I do not intend to play cultists straight off but use them under the 'Becoming a Cult' rules.

UPDATED TO SECOND DRAFT: Added Skills depending on Patron, Scavvies have joined the fun.

Capture still refers to redemptionists in the text.

Why wouldn't they corrupt a scavy? I get its copy/paste from the redemptionists, but it makes sense for them to not like mutants... chaos, not so much.

Why does a zeolot have access to techno skill table?

How does a ratskin convert to a cult when it says in the bit above about who is immune due to sticking to their causes that ratskin shamans are there? Is it if the ratskins don't have a shaman in the gang they can change to a cult?

how does recruiting work while a leader is converting gang members? do they recruit off the cult list or the original ganger list?

also why cant scavies convert to a cult? I would think they could become khorne or nurgle quite naturally.

One last thing, if a gang wins a holestead or settlement from the cult... you've copied the text from the redemptionists... but these are a chaos cult settlement... would it be worth adding something about how they corrupt the unknowing gang that has won the territory? could be a fun little addition.

I've not read over the spawn stuff in detail, but those other bits jumped out on a first pass. Hope that helps, looks like a really fun ruleset!

The text in black is content taken straight from Joe Barnsley's custom rules from years ago. The ruleset originally supposed to be "As Redemptionists but", so the only major changes that I have done have been providing the Redemptionist rules in the same document and modifying the mutations/gift tables.

Scavvies were not allowed to be corrupted back then too, and I never knew why but I believe it was a matter of simplicity?

Updated to Second Draft, Skills are now different depending on Patron. Gotta figure out what to do with Scalies.

Chaos Ward is now not modifiable.

For this question - the reason the "converting a captive" and "converting your own gang" are different is because it's the difference between the shaman's leader convincing them to convert as opposed to an adversary convincing them to convert. It might make more sense to just give the shaman a bonus to resist conversion in both cases, however.

Fixed Gatling Cannon's range band and new management becomes Cultist Priest and gains Chaos Gifts.

EDIT: I have to get the transition to work or I will have to revert..... woopsiedaisies. The model becoming a cultist priest opens up a lot of questions and holes. :RIP:

I'd maybe add a note saying that whe nthe new leader becomes the unit type 'cultist priest', their cost doesnt change.

I'd potentially suggest having tzentch losing ferocity as their main skill type and maybe gain... agility? I just dont see them being hugely ferocious, but could see them being more agile and flighty... but feel free to disagree

Did you mean to say scalies not scavies who become deacons when converted?

Looking good though! :)

I was going to add them as Agility, but Ferocity is the "cult" thing like Redemptionists. I might change it at some point though.

Our playtests so far have been hilarious. Covens of Chaos are cursed with miserable luck! No data has really been gathered because not a single Chaos Coven has lived long enough due to poor rolls and turns of events.

Updated document in original post. Scalies remain unchanged, Enforcers do not convert.
