Commissariat submitted a new resource:

CHAOS CULT COVENS REDUX & BECOMING A CULT REDUX - Based on the very first Chaos Cult Covens rules from ORB.

My name is Commi. I’m an avid Lord of the Rings: Strategy Battle Game player and developer for Battle Companies: Warbands in Middle-Earth as well as Heralds of Ruins: 40k Killteam.

This is a ruleset based on the original Chaos Cult Covens rules from the Original Rulebook. It contains rules for playing as a Chaos Cult worshiping a majority of the gods as well as rules for watching your gang slowly slip into the ways of any of the religious cults. (ie: Redemptionists)....

Hi Commi!
Just wanted to track a couple notes here for any future consumers of these rules.

- Errata -
  1. In the Territory section, the line "the partisan support of Chaos Cult settlers means they can collect money any easier than other outlaws." should probably match the Redemptionist wording: "...means they can collect money far more easily than other outlaws."
  2. The Territory section suggests that cultists should start with a territory from the Redemptionist Territory Table, as well as roll on the Redemptionist Territory Table when they move on after each game. For cultists, both of these should probably be the Cultist Territory Table included in the rules (unless of course your standard gang is converting to a Redemptionist .

- Clarifications -
(These may or may not be self-evident for others reading these rules, but weren't clear at-a-glance for me).
  1. Once a previously non-cultist gang starts Becoming A Cult, this rule from Choosing The Coven applies: "At least 50% of the coven must be Novices/Brothers. If the number falls below this then only Novices/Brothers can be recruited." This means any new gang members recruited must be Brothers or Novices at least until the 50% threshold is met.
  2. When converting your own gang members, Heavies become Deacons (and lose access to all heavy weapons besides the Heavy Flamer and Gatling Cannon). Converting a captured Heavy would still demote the captive to a Brother, restricting their weapons access accordingly and cleansing their equipment as normal.

Commissariat updated CHAOS CULT COVENS REDUX & BECOMING A CULT REDUX with a new update entry:

2020 Update

Thank you Nomad for recognizing some flaws in the course of our alt-activation NCE campaign. I have made updates to fix wording and typos as well as some changes that make the rules for turning to chaos make more sense.

Some headings were added for ease of searching the text.

This document is not perfect of course and more versions will follow, surely.

Just a couple quick notes on the updated version:
- Errata -
  1. The Territory section suggests that cultists should roll on the Redemptionist Territory Table when they move on after each game. Unless the gang has chosen to convert to Redemptionists, this should probably be the Cultist Territory Table instead.
- Clarifications -
None! I'm still in the process of converting my gang to cultists, so as I get farther along if I run into anything that my pea-brain struggles to grasp I'll update my notes here. :)

- Formatting -
These are super minor nitpicks, just wanted to mention them to help clean things up next revision.
  1. There seems to be some missing white space: GANGERS & JUVES doesn't have a blank line above it.
  2. There's also some extra white space: BECOMING A CULT appears to have two blank lines above it, pushing 1 sentence onto the next page.
  3. And while I'm already being obnoxious, the font size change on the last page could be a tiny bit jarring... :p

Another quick note related to standard gangs in the process of converting to cultists: it's possible to get into an odd situation where one (or more) of your standard gang members are captured, but all of the active/uncaptured gang members are converted to cultists. The relevant rule snippet seems to be:
"The Leader must continue Redeeming/Corrupting until there are no members of the gang left to convert."
But it doesn't seem entirely clear whether captured models count as 'members of the gang left to convert' - they are still technically members of the gang, but can't be converted until rescued (and are excluded from other standard gang-wide rules).
Per the discussion in Discord it seems like the solution is to defer full conversion until the captured models are either officially lost, or rescued and subsequently converted (or killed).
