N17 Chaos Cultists Gang in WD April

The Teentch power is massive. I play against a chaos player who have excelled using it, often with a heavy stubber pinned in cover, using it to blindfire against enemies in heavy cover!

I was reading the new PDF and was wondering about this, the wording from the PDF is;
"Tzeentch: Once per round, a single fighter may ignore all negative modifiers when making a Shoot (Basic) or Shoot (Double) action."

To me this seems to mean that the Tzeentch power couldn't be used with Blindfire (Double) as Blindfire is it's own action seperate to Shoot (Basic) or Shoot (Double). Not sure if i'm reading this right or wrongly. Food for thought =)

In general I like the tweaking made in the PDF, though a few too many similarities to Cawdor but with a better skill selection (ie access to Ferocity). The psyker powers/witch are still a little disappointing (imo) though are handy in the original gang war style campaign (as money makers).

Looks like a clarification to me. The wording used to be 'shooting attack'. Now it's clear it doesn't work with Blind Fire.

I would say mid tier.

Their fourth hero is a big deal in Turf War, but not so much in Dominion.

They have some nice options, and are definitely better than Cawdor. But I think their limited access to weapons with good AP can be a problem.

They have good alpha strike potential and can replenish their numbers rather cheaply. But I think they will suffer against well equipped gangs.

True, the fact that they can have four heroes at creation is shadowed by the fact that Reputation is not a requirement for them to add more champions (Disciples).

It is however still true that this is a bigger deal in Turf War than in Dominion.

In Turf War your heroes are directly related to your income. When half you gang is champions, you generate a lot of income.

In Dominion this is not the case, having more champion merely give you more Post Battle actions, which beyond the first 3-4 are not that useful.

It is nice to have unlimited Champions, but it is better in Turf War than Dominion

It basically means they have no champ limit to creation either, or we're back to nude gang tossing a ganger off a tall building again (wasting time playing a dummy game).

Cults losing champ limit may indicate Turf War is phasing out?

Yup, it is another of these incedents where simply sacrificing a ganger/juve in the first battel, by far is the best tactic.

It might be an indication that Turf War is on its way out, or might just be a mistake. Hard to tell. Personally I prefer Dominion, so I wouldn’t mind much.

It does however mean that while Chaos Cults are Mid Tier (if you subscribe to such things) in Dominion and Top Tier (due to being by far the richest gang) in Turf War.

Don't GSC now also benefit from champions being only limited by the number of gangers?

Seems like we got 2 different "Assail"s now:
  • Cults spell (push into other models)
  • Strange Powers (move terain)
Can't see the difference between the two except the CC version mentions pushing object (but still only lets you target an enemy fighter).

I have to read closer when I have the rules, but can Strange Power Assail push models into each other for additional damage?

Oh, it just clicked you were talking about the strange powers from GW3, I though you were comparing the GSC version to the CC version (the latter is slightly different as it implies you can move object but doesn't support it with its rules). You are correct, the Strange powers version explicitely let you move objects but does not deal collision damage.

It’s a bit of a sod that the free PDF Gang is better than the recently released one in an expensive book.

Might just me due to the most active gangs in my group being GSC and CC.
I’m not surprised. They’re both cheaper to get the rules for! Either in a WD or PDF.

It’s just a shame that “Necromunda” isn’t going to be that visually distinctive from Kill Team, Shadow War: Armageddon or full 40k if the Cults dominate the scene.

Oh it is gonna be visually distinctive cause you won't find cultists with lasguns, missile launchers and other good stuff in those other games.

Dont think that will be a problem. As im shure the gang will get access to more new stuff the WD gangs wont. And there will probarly be a book or update that makes Cawdor better than they are now. It just takes some time.

Until they add those options into Kill Team. ;) To sell more models obviously.

Errrr, Chaos Cults were a WD Gang and have just got a PDF which grants them access to new stuff!

Still, just pointing out the irony of playing Necromunda using predominantly gangs that make it look mostly like x3 other Games Workshop products rather than, say, the gangs that are actually unique to the setting.

Yeah but no. Kill Team is in a wheel chair compared to Necromunda when it comes to customization. There's been some complaints there for missing options, but cults getting lasguns are not one of them.

They used to get it right the first time. How many attempts (that we pay for) do they require now?
