*Clack-shick* - it's the Bolt Action thread!

I was surprised they used the word 'graveyard' but OOA Dice Tracker just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I'm happy with any edition as I have played:
1st ed: 0 games
2nd ed: 0 games
3rd ed: 0 games

So... I wont know the difference! I also only built an army as something to do for a month over lockdown... so have no idea if it works with the army lists or anything lol.

But yeah, I'll bring and play at tribemeet!

Then we’ll be perfectly matched!! 😂

Wow I feel like a veteran having played a whole three games...

As for the rules, I quite like the 3rd edition army lists, as they are a lot more flexible and allow for more variety in your lists, but am not sure about some of the other rules changes.

That’s a lot of oil drums!! Almost a depot’s worth - or as we say in Necromunda land: light cover. 😁

I bought the second set on the off chance I got @Punktaku in this years Secret Santa exchange. The preliminary plan was for a conversion that included a couple barrels of wash and maybe a bonus base or two of scatter terrain with stacked barrels of wash. :sneaky:

A part of me is very glad I didn't have to figure out scale, legible labeling for "Agrax Earthshade", etc. and I have barrels for a depot so win/win.

Do you like Wargames Illustrated magazine? Not a subscriber but also quite interested in Bolt Action??

Well… the February edition has a free Russian Bolt Action sprue attached!!

You don’t collect Russians? So what! It’s a free sprue for conversions, you’ll find something to do with it. Look, it even has bases on it… you can use those right? Yes you can…

Get it.

Go on.

Give in.

😎

How are you all doing your weapons teams?

So far for the USMC Bazooka I’ve just used two 25mm bases and they can stand next to each other. Similar small teams can do the same.

I must admit though, I think that I could’ve probably put them on a 40mm base I have from Renedra and made a mini-diorama for them…

I’m thinking of using the 60mm bases for the bigger guns (as supplied) and just gluing the soldiers on - though it does make storage a bit harder.

As you can track casualties on a Mini die (or whatever) I was just going to do that and take the modelling opportunity!!

Just interested in what you all prefer to do?

I went for stick all to the base, I find arraying squads in Bolt Action hard enough (because everyone is more or less the same) so taking that worry away for weapons teams was appealing.

When I eventually get around to painting my Paras I have plans of 3D printing custom slot in bases for everything.

I have the metal bases of my weapon crews bluetacked to the bigger round bases. If someone dies I pick them off. After playing a while it's a bit of a hassle and I will probably eventually glue them down and count casualties on mini dice.

Mine are all different as I tried different things.

Bazookas, flamethrowers and LMG teams are mostly on single 25mm bases. Prone guys on oval bases.

MMGs, mortars etc. are very varied. Some on a 60mm diorama, some on 60mm with separate 25mm bases for loaders, some on 40mm bases with 25mm bases for loaders.

Artillery I put on the smallest base I can find that holds the entire gun and then the crew go on separate 25mm bases.

Examples in this album. Ask if you want dimensions for any of the bases.

Just starting this quest myself, I've gone with 50mm bases for anti tank guns (and likely medium arty), and will be glueing the crew to the base, then tracking with a dice. no idea how I'll tackle smaller stuff yet
