Here's question for the next update of NCE if it ever happens

What happens when a Redemptionist gang capture a Hired Gun and redem them?

Problem: Hired guns receive free advances. Shouldn't they count in the number of advances a normal Redemptionist brother gets normally and thus augment the starting of the newly converted.

Suggestion for answer
Option A - They can't be redeemed

Option B - They can be redeemed but start with more xp. Of course they lose all special abilities not related to skills.
Scum > Brother with 100+d6 xp
Bounty Hunter > Brother with 160+d6 xp (higher stats = to five advances + four free advances)
Ratskin Scout > Brother with 50+d6 xp
Pit Slave > Brother with 60+d6 xp AND if S or T is higher than 4, reduce to 4 and reduce starting xp by 10 per point reduced)

And if special characters are used, they cannot be redeemed.

Had this arise back in ORB. We just had them continue to not be able gain advances no different than their gun for hire days.
Not sure how rating was worked out for their XP. As I wasn't one using them but using your XP calculations on their advances seems a good idea.

But I do quite like your solution. I think the reason we kept the lack of XP gain was because of how focused their original advances were to that fighters particular skillset. I can't really recall it was 23yrs ago and I was just a player well removed from such decisions.

The xp calculation is simply 20+d6 for a starting brother + the requirement to gain each advances thereafter so +10 xp up to 60 xp, then per 20 xp up to 200, etc.

If the guy can't gain level despite becoming a brother is a bit boring. Of course, opponents should never send hired guns toward a redemptionist player in the hope that he redeem them.

I'm a bit new here on yaktribe and I'm sad that they removed in the NCE that you no longer keep the equipment of captured fighters that aren't redeemed althought I understand perfectly the possible abuse that it added to the game.

I'll have a look at this too as it doesn't seem right that any other gang can keep the equipment but not redemptionists.
