in the interest of keeping it fair, sorta, everone who crosses the line tomorrow, regardless of when they post their numbers, has a chance of winning. the racer with the highest combined total will be the winner, and in the case of a tie, the highest first number wins, then the second, then the third.​

of coarse, if only one makes it across the line, they win, good luck leading pack!

Turn 4 - final straight

the captain can only watch as he falls behind the leading group and sees a red blur zoom past! WOAH!

1, 3, 5

the captain tries his best to catch up but the collisions have taken their toll.

@Arnulf I’ll be doing a de breif of the rules at the end, but I don’t want to risk confusing anyone At this very late stage. But there’s definately scope for expansion to say the least!

(5) The engine splutters after the abuse of the NITROHORG boost... (1) it coughs back to life and judders forwards, the rider rocking back and forth like a kid on a push toy to keep it moving, the line tantalisingly right there... (2) - the engine catches again one final time, and over the line goes #2!

But was he first? In the kicked up dust and smoke from the ailing engine, he can't tell... He looks up to the suspended timing display at the finish line...

(1) Running hot the Psycho 7 crew is forced to back off the throttle a bit. (6) However, upon seeing an opportunity they jam on the accelerator but the wiry Digga crew pulls ahead into safety, leaving the engine powerless after the attempt. (4)

A sputter, a lurch and then a sigh signals the end of the race for PT Racing's #7 car as it coasts to a stop in space 13. Maybe the used cooking oil used as fuel needs to be better filtered? Defeat never smelled so delicious.

2-5-3

The digga truck, realizing the end of the race is near, decides to floor it. A brief hiccup with the accelerator is cured by repeated stomping and chants of “Fasta! Fasta!” The digga truck roars back to life, and races to space 16.

Just @MedMos to go! Is the Red Racer victorious by a nose (and a rather devious last second sideswipe) or does the Team slime Monster truck have a last ditch Dick Dastardly plan??

P.s. just been crunching, he literally needs double 3 and a 6 tor the win of the century, anything else is a fail!

The monster truck picks up speed (3), then starts looking for a victim (6) but in scouting for the best target lets racers past him left and right, and falling short (2) of both hitting someone and the finish line!
#4 swerves into grid 17...

Ahh, so close yet so far away!

The Checkered flag servitor starts waving its mechanical flag arm as the rest of the racers limp over the line! The Winner of the first (maybe only) Badlands Race, recieving a gold medal, a bottle of fizzy brown liquid and top spot on the podium:

Thank you everyone for participating! It kinda sucks about the picture thing, but by this point I think everyone is just hoping @Malo is good and well!​

Any suggestions for future races are more than welcome, and I’m quite happy if someone were to take the initiative and organise one in the future!

Personal notes: when it became apparent the race was going to be over quite quickly I didn’t feel it nessecary to go over my rules, but my intentention was that the dice could be arranged in any order to best suit the results, and also that folks based their moves from the previous turn using the map that didn’t happen. This would have made things seem more simultaneous and random without the actual times of posts being a factor. But once things started moving and people were taking into account current possitions, I just let it play out.

Overall I feel the pace was ok, but the course could have been a slight bit longer to make it last a day or two more, but I feel like it’s been a success!

Thanks, captain! Was a fun one, and not too taxing on my work-ridden brain. I did at first think that rolls could be applied in whichever order you desired (to optimise ramming potential!), but when it seemed like others did them in order, I did as well.

Which is why I asked if I could ram you on the first turn as I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be as you rolled or each turn.

I think I did choose the dice order so that rams were possible.

Still I enjoyed it, pity it wasn't a bit longer.

#7 Red Racer jumps out of his car celebrating at his win! Long were the celebrations that day.

Later in the evening after everything calms down, a stranger in a cloak walks out of the crowd and whispers in his ear "I have a Job for you!",
They proceed to flash a small emblem from under their cloak to most it would look like a small trinket to those in the know it is the symbol of debt owed to the Delaque.
"F..." he stops himself "What does the great House want of someone so lowly as me?"
"I hear that Horg has found something in the deep desert, go there and find Frekar" the cloaked figure spoke barely a whisper but each syllable had more weight than the racer he had just driven. "Remember how much we have done for you..."
Red Racer looked down in guilt, realising red racer quickly looked back up but the mysterious cloaked figure was gone...
