I have come into possession of some large cuboid metal frames.

I propose we as a community create enough floors that can be inserted into the frame to create a vertical necromunda table called Yakatomi Plaza.
I floated the idea at yakday then promptly forgot to give people the pre cut floors :( am happy to post them out or people can make their own floors from mdf or any suitably strong material. The size of each floor is 30cm by 44cm.
I have enough space to store all three towers. The towers will then appear at any and all forum meet ups.
They are stackable but doubt any but a few would be able to play on the top level of all three stacked together :)
The idea is we each create a level, theming them could be cool, possibly but not limited to looking at the territories table, a drinking hole, a friendly docs surgery, a sauna @CaptainDangerous (oh wait I think yours got nicked? :) ) an armoury, a landing pad, a laundry room, a pantry, a frozen meat room with questionably sourced meat hanging on hooks, a games room with a 40k table set up, really just about anything goes as long as models can move around on it :)
Anybody wanting to volunteer can post in this thread

Interesting idea. I’d definitely be up for this, but not until Pirate Day/Halloween/Zombie Walk are out of the way.

Do you have any pictures of the frame? Also how is movement between the “levels” done? A central shaft or stairs?

:D
The PLEASURECUBE is still safely in clone hands! The Imperial Mint mine however........
........curse them trolls!!

Count me in!
What are the dimensions for each individual space? I could just but something together that could be attached to a board at a later date rather than you sending the board out!?

Edit: central shaft hurhurhur:giggle:

as theres a metal frame i am thinking a magnetized lift cage here and there. for games where a lift would break the mission i am considering a very long ladder lol
i havent set a height limit, maybe nothing bigger than 6 inches? that gives enough room between floors for big grubby hands to get into and allow the checking of line of sight etc without taking over a whole frame by yourself. as above, the base dimensions are 30cm by 44cm. my only thoughts on bits just being placed on each level is when they are inevitably knocked off or lost etc, once a level is in place it would be good if i can lay it on its side without worrying about bits falling off etc for ease of transport.
bringing your creation on the day is ok or if you arent attending tribe meet finding your nearest yakker who is or even trusting to royal mail would be fine.
time frame wise complete by February unless you are bringing it yourself so starting after halloween etc is fine.

Sounds like fun! I’m gonna get thinking of ideas for a floor. I’m not fully committed yet, but if time allows I’m keen to knock something up. I’d make my own board(any preference of MDF thickness?) and bring it along to the meet, so no pressure there.
I see you’ve got everything you need for some building @radulykan
Length of wood...check.
Length of plumbing.....check.
Length of soil pipe.....check.
Massive F*ing sword.....check! :p

So like, no bigger than two bulkheads high?
Are you wanting one of each territory, or is it completely upto us what goes on?
What I mean is, do you want us to declare what we are making or should we leave it as a surprise until it’s done?

And off topic: what were you using the sword for? :)

P.s. great minds think a broadsword Ned!

Late feb/early March is the prospective date for the next meetup.

Lol after my hobby rooms en-suite shower rotted and I had to pull the walls/floor out and then rebuild it all, everything got chucked on top of everything else, the piping and sword fitted nicely inside the frame and came with it when I pulled it all out this morning. I’m not going to lie though, a few practice swings were taken :)
Not too fussed, build something cool and we can fit in :) the territory idea was more for inspiration.
I think 6 mm would work but 9mm is stronger (and would better match the 10mm plastic sheets I already have)

I’m assuming whatever we make, we should imagine it fitting into a “sealed box” 300mm x 440mm x 150mm?
Does this include the base material thickness?

Edit: if we all use the same base thickness the individual tiles could be placed side by side to form a lovely table.

Edit to the edit: as a thought, if the frame is able to come apart into its 3 sections, you could place all three sections on a table during gaming sessions, making it easier to play on.

Yep the frame comes apart and can even be placed in a big Y shape :)
The frame is very sturdy clockwork, I don’t foresee a bit of mdf affecting it in any way.
My plastic sheets are left overs from my shower rebuild, basically 10mm fascia board so it’s strong and super light. Not sure what sort of price that is compared to mdf though and wouldn’t ask anybody to fork out for it.
Yes azzabat, imagine it’s going into a box and everything will be alright. Don’t include the base thickness, some will be shorter anyway plus there’s always a bit of wiggle room.

Edit-I am a slow typist :) I feel like mdf comes in 3mm increments 3,6,9,12 etc

the shipping is what i’m afraid of (most).... well, shipping and getting something actually finished...

If it’s any consolation guys, I feel like I’m on the wrong side of the pond when it comes to Halloween.
We have no Michaels, no Target, no decent Dollar stores.
