Primer coat went on my Statue this morning, Xmas shopping tonight so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to start painting. Still not decided how its going to be painted yet so I welcome the mental breathing room...

Ah man, this is killer! I remember seeing you first post this when you were coming up with the idea. Love the accent of the small skulls on the bullet casings. Great touch

Not very, it’s as time consuming as you make it!

Here’s a rough idea of my process:
  1. Paint the base model a flat brown
  2. Stipple on a mix of Turquoise and Mid Green (eyeball the colour)
  3. Stipple on the above but desaturated with a light Grey (45° angle from top)
  4. Wash any exposed brown areas with a black wash
  5. Use another clean brush to streak some black wash down over painted areas
  6. Mix up more of that Tur+Green+L Grey Mix with more grey and stipple that on top and exposed areas
  7. Use nihilakh oxide to streak or sit in select grooves (lighten with a pale grey or white if it’s not light enough)
I wouldn’t use any actual metallic bronze or brass paint unless the object is at a height where it can be touched or rubbed against to expose the untarnished metal.

Always check against actual statues etc to see how water streaks on them.

This one above shows why the black wash is a useful step. Also the 45° from top weathering.

Note the dark streaks over the verdigris on its right hand.

There are other ways (probably as many as there are painters!)

A quick way would be to spray brown, then slap on a load of dirty down verdigris paint. Doesn’t always look right though.

How’d I do? I exposed the toes and the tip of the sword as if passers-by would touch them as a tradition for luck, fortune, etc.

Super rushed one day entry!

I couldn't find the bits for what I planned to do, but did find this cereal box statuette of a reviled xenos, and did what came naturally.

I wanted to make it look like the statue was cast out of very poor quality metal which had been vandalized, and that generations of not particularly healthy hivers had relieved themselves against the base. I'm quite happy with the result 🙂

I completely neglected to take any WIP pictures - it came together so quickly that there wasn't much to see.

@Stoof Urine fine modeling form.

Seems like there should be a scenario where the statue is an objective that must be tagged. If the tagging model has a re-breather then no roll pre-tag action but if not the stench might cause a delay or thwart their ability to complete the action. To the Scenario-A-Tron!

My first competition entry since joining the tribe! (I hope I’m going about it right)

I call it Katherine’s Knell. The base is made from cardboard tube, foam, and a washer; coated in DryDex. It was painted in multiple stages that I uploaded to this gallery: https://yaktribe.games/community/media/albums/necromunda-starter-table-wip.14732/
The statue itself is from my 40k Sororitas Imagifier and I painted it with the help of @MusingWarboss who broke down their process for me earlier in this thread.

This comp has been very fun and I look forward to the next one!

I belatedly remembered that I have a magazine with an AoS Guardian Idol on it. I suppose that would have been a good fit, but I'm not going to get that done now.
