I was in the same boat as MedMos, voted for Cleaner but not in a retail setting. Thanks to Stoof's clarification I'll move forward with my idea; a Gorkamorka Yoof being given a particularly difficult cleaning task.. I think I'll try my hand at painting a backdrop for the first time too.

Is there any issue with working predominantly in 3d modelling and printing?

I'll be recording my progress in my log here.

I considered going back to my cleaner idea (servitor to sweep up droppings after the horse of my Vostroyan company commander). But I'll stick with the peddler. If I finish quickly (HA!), I might see if I can get the servitor done as well.

If you’re thinking “space diner,” may I also suggest the one from Space Dandy? It’s called “Boobies.” It’s a bit like Hooters, but more literal.

Eric’s Hobby Workshop just posted a trench crusade video, and it shows him converting 3D models. Looked fairly easy. He mentions the two programs he uses, but I can’t remember them. I thought it looked cool and easy, but I don’t have a 3D printer, so that’s as far as I remembered.

Eric used Meshmixer, which I don't use because my computer struggles with it for some reason. I use Blender which has a much larger learning curve, but is a solid jack-of-all-trades 3D program which can achieve awesome results.

we shall have an Uber theme!

I was thinking a taxi. Well, if it's retail, maybe Uber Eats then...

I mentioned somewhere above that I had an idea I wanted to do sometime but not really now. Well, I guess I may as well give it a go.

Query: I was thinking of incorporating some MDF terrain. Obviously I'll use a bit that I haven't already started assembling. But is it ok if it's already been given a spray of primer while still on the sheet?

I'm in too. Going to do some kind of corpse cart with a futuristic twist. And maybe try to make some kind of plague doctor and retinue/slaves.

Will post a wip once I get the idea started and some bits collected.

Mostly Sketchup but sometimes TinkerCad. Been thinking of learning Blender but that's a big time sink.
Yeah, that was my thought. I know Blender, I’ve attempted to use it before but it has a huge learning curve and I don’t really need it for work and don’t want to spend the rest of this year learning it!!

TinkerCAD looks ok, I’ll have a look into Sketchup.

I’m ok with learning some new skills though!!

I have narrowed my ideas down to two - the ubiquitous UK layby burger van, but Hive Guys, for those mid-shopping trip hunger pangs:

(I got this pic from a story about a food hygiene enforcement - appropriate!)

And either a joint or second entry of a cleaning zombie/maid:

(artist's impression)

The burger caravan will be very easy, and I think I already have that poxwalker somewhere.

When I was merely a young whippersnapper off on a night out with some mates, we’d finished our excessive drinking and moshing and out onto the cold streets of the city centre, there was one of these food vans out there to capture the ex-nightclub/student crowd.

One of my mates decided to get some food and went up to the van and said to us “I’m just gonna grab an e-coli burger”, then turned back to the van owner and asked for a burger! 🍔

The look on the owners face was priceless. 🤣

Still, he did give my mate a burger, don’t think he got e-coli though.

I'll try to submit an entry this time around. I've been wanting to try making a few civilian models. A bartender is tempting or a waste disposal worker scene. For the waste disposal worker it would have to be something like the scene in Terry Gilliam's Brazil where Tuttle the freelance heating engineer deals with the central services workers by rerouting the sewage tubing.
Maybe something like this:
