personally, since i'm not a committee member, I'd think that they should count. They're an old project that you're returning to. If i pick one of my old projects, like some scenery pieces from old yakcomps, they've already had work done on them. Some were "done" and some weren't finished.

The only thing that immediately comes to mind when I think of pre-loved projects that could use some more attention is that I want to rebase some more units for my Warriors of Chaos army to fit with the new edition. That's not exactly a thrilling project, though.

Do you think I could get away with saying that my half-started projects would count as “pre-loved”, or should I actually have a look at fixing some of my crappier older stuff? 😅

(I blutac bits together and hink about if they are the right bits, in the right pose, before getting distracted by something else and shoving them into a tub)

I was wondering the same, only about half finished projects.

Half started sounds even less loved!

I guess it’s up to us to explain the deep love in question…

For my part, I spend inordinate amounts of time on lovingly crafting the kitbashes then run out of steam on the paint job.

I honestly don't know if I have anything for this one. I tend to finish my projects and most of my old, old stuff that I painted when I started the hobby have already been repainted when I came back after a long hiatus. Might have to look into my boxes 'o stuff to see if anything is there that I would consider worthwhile.

Is half-finished 50%?

I usually stall at 75% - which I’d call half-finished, as in “I was half way through finishing it before it took the decade long pause”.

Is half started only 25% done?!?

I have a dozen or more half done projects I'd love to get back to, but with the new edition coming out I started thinking about some of the best times I had in the ORIGINAL edition, back in the 90s!

We had a vibrant and dedicated local gaming group at the time, and the Outlanders expansion just amped things up to 11. Our long running campaign culminated (as so many do) in a vicious, widespread plague zombie apocalypse where the deadly infections ravaging the underhive could turn your gangers into feral zombies suddenly and without warning.

At the heart of the final narrative were two characters: Karloth Valois, the zombie lords and the "big bad" in the final campaign missions, and R.A. McGill - our local, extremely biased and often quite drunk local underhive Newspaper / newsletter publisher, whose biweekly editions spun the stories of triumph, tragedy and tomfoolery that punctuated our ongoing campaign.

(Does anyone else remember White dwarf and the like encouraging campaign newsletters?)

While I dont have the (30 year old) models for either of these.... I'd love to jump on the "new edition" bandwagon and try to make a new version of one (or both!)

Ehhhrrrmm got any pictorial evidence of the half-started projects @trollmeat? Convince us you really loved the idea of doing it the first time, started then life got in the way.
I do have heaps of pics of my half-started, definitely loved, projects,.. but I seriously doubt that I would feel right digging them up and continuing working on them as “pre-loved”.

I’ll probably pick up one of my earlier pieces and redo the paint. :)

Wait! I think I’ve got it - not so long ago I got hold of a rare OOP Blood Bowl human team from @Greenthumb. He had carefully stripped them for me, but I'm sure they were treasured before that. So my project will be preloved - just not by me. Wheeling them out for this comp feels like a fitting tribute. His pre-sending photo will serve well as my pre-comp photo (and if you have any painted photos before they took a bath @Greenthumb then please do share also!)

Around the time I got these models, I visited New York and it happened to be in the grip of NBA fever as the New York Knicks were on the cusp of winning the NBA finals for the first time in forever. I became a fan for a week. The gaudy orange and blue colours are perfect for Blood Bowl - so that gave me my colour scheme. I'm thinking of inverting the orange and blue on armour and clothes for the blitzers, so they'll stand out (the throwers and catchers are more obviously different at a glance).

I will aim for a full starting roster, whatever that looks like for Humans these days, rather than all the models.
