Competition themes - how should we pick?

What do you all think of how we pick themes? I was wondering about going back to the old ways of winner picking. Do you like the winner + 3 quickest? What about 1st, 2nd & 3rd places suggesting? Let me know!

I'll leave the poll up for an undisclosed length of time, results are visible as we go.

The reason I changed it was that there was a run of the winning yaks struggling to come up with something, and also, with the amount of comps we had had at that point, they were also coming up with mega niche ideas.

The idea was that having the fastest yaks + the winner, was that it rewarded those yaks who had put the effort in.

I allowed multiple votes in the selection poll, as this enabled the most popular idea to emerge without being competitive or negating the other ideas. But I get why it was changed to only one vote.

I also created the YakComp submission thread, so even non competing yaks could feel like they were inputting into our community event.

I feel that the simple ideas, with lots of entrants, make for the best comps.

I do like having votes, rather than winner picking. But I don't have strong views on top 3 or winner + quickest.

Does this mean I have to come with an idea? That's going to be harder than the actual competition...

Anyway I like having multiple options to vote on, as that gives more time to come up with an idea. Not particularly fussed how we come up with those options.

Honestly that's part of the reason I asked. I am often pretty quick and I feel I'm making suggestions more than I should be.

Most popular choice in the poll is 1st-3rd suggest themes.

I think I'm going to go with 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and Fastest if not already represented. So up to four suggestions per comp. I think that covers both bases. Just winner picks seems least popular anyway.

I agree with this. No strong feelings. I voted for 1, 2 & 3 though.

1,2,3 and quickest is a good compromise.
