Cosplaying Necromunda

I don't know if she's going for Escher, but I think she nailed it:

Ok, so mostly because of discussion in the Patch tread, I'm now seriously considering an Orlock cosplay. For reference, random Orlock:

After that it's just a matter of boots and jeans and a t-shirt. Also have to figure out that goofy loin cloth thing and the shoulder armor, but that could just be foam.

Regarding shoulder pads, a friend of mine makes things like that from milk bottle plastic blasted with a heat gun and stretched. Foam could be easier, though.

Sy-fy (god, i hate that spelling) did a short series called Cosplay Melee and they had to do some armor pieces. They gloss over the entire process, but they do mention what they used and how they did it.

I think what I really need to do is break down and pick up one of those "how to make foam armor" books. My son was a Sons of Horus Tech Priest for Halloween last year and wants to up the costume for next year. I'm planning to add armor. Ultimately what he really wants is to be a full on Sons of Horus SM, but his old man does not feel up to that one. Yet at least, anyway.

I bought a whole garbage bag of nerf guns today off a neighbour for a very reasonable price. @nooker, the left hand 2x4 shotgun in your second nerf pose pic is one I got and am hoping to make it into a Plasmagun, with the new muzzle higher and further forward than the existing one but having 8 hoses coming out of the dart muzzles and going into the more traditional plasma weapon looking muzzle.

Have lost my weekend watching too many Nerf painting videos ( :p ) but the plan is to have (using Necromunda weapon terms in a LOOSE manner) 2x Boltpistols, 2x double barrel shotguns, 1x Long Las, 1x Plasmagun, 1x Flamer, 1x Autogun, and 1x Lasgun. At that rate, if I wrap those up in 2027, I don't see any reason not to make a chainsword :D:cool::cool:

I've been hard pressed to break out the terrain making production line, and miniatures-wise I seem stuck on some 40K stuff polishing up technique before applying it to my Necromunda models so productivity has been real low, so maybe this will be a welcome hoof in the junk to my motivation on the brushes :)

Dark Angels are a good place to start for SM cosplay, you can get away wih covering most with robes and just have to model a fairly small amount... I did this for my son last year, plan is to this year add a bit more actual armour, eventually build up a suit.

Good point. Mine really likes Chaos, specifically Sons of Horus. Adding armor to it will sorta get us there. How did you do the shoulder pads?

Got a few more layers on the hand blaster. I am going to try and build a scope out of some plumbing pex, and maybe a little camera screen type viewport on the one side mounted sort of below and in front of the 6 barrel.

Still need a second basecoat on the blues, then some weathering and rub wear on the metallic corners, and of course the building and painting of the little sci fi scoping gadgetry, but I think it is progressing along :)

...now, the garbage bag lot of used Nerf blasters I bought off a neighbour goes fairly deep so it is a shy scratch on the overall scope of the project. Really excited to figure out conversions for the Plasma Gun and the Flamer, those will be the two most modification heavy

I do also have plans for maybe painting a Necromunda gang influenced free hand piece on the butt of the pistol grip. Something House of Iron esque in its design, but almost like a badge branding for the piece similar to how in the LA 90s Romeo + Juliet movie they have the House names on their 9mm Sword grip ends.
