Cosplaying Necromunda

Those are excellent pieces. I’m thinking of doing something post apocalyptic / Necromunesque for Halloween next year so I might give that chest template a try. Evil Ted is really good when you’re first starting out.

I made the War Axe as one of my first projects from his templates and it worked really well.

It gave me the confidence to branch out and try other things.

I’d highly recommend him.

On the subject of Cosplay, here’s a question for you Southern Canadians across the pond ...
What exactly is Barge Cement?

Is it a rubber cement, a contact adhesive? All the American Makers use it but we can’t get it in the U.K. and I can’t find out what it’s made of to make a comparison.

But what is it? What’s actually in it? I need to know because it’s advertised as a contact cement but that term is a “catch-all” term in the U.K. Here we have:

Contact Adhesive which is used for gluing non porous things together,
Impact Adhesives which glue non flexible things together, both of which are quite thick and difficult to spread,
Rubber Cement (which actually looks the most like Barge) which is used to temporarily fix things together,
Adhesive Cement which is used for binding different materials together.

Can you see why I’m confused? Plus barge cost about £2 an oz over here. Or £80 a quart.

Barge is a rubber cement. It's is not a temporary bond, but is flexible once dry. We used to use it at work and when we couldn't get it anymore I'm sure we started using Scotch-weld 1300L. About £20 or so a litre but that was a while ago.

Glues are confusing things. Barge is a rubber cement but 1300 is a rubber adhesive yet they work and handle the same.

One of these days I'm going to go to my local Airsoft in my bodged up Orlock costume, they sometimes do fancy dress days. Similar to the one I put together for the TribeMeet foods poster:

(Minus my son's pool dragon probably)
