So I've been looking at custom weapon stats for some Mantic Forge-Fathers to use as Squat Venators in N17 - Gang stats with the prototype Burst Rifles are in the tools - under venators - 'The Grudgepact'

So far I have:
Burst Rifle
Range: S12" L24"
Modifiers: L-1
S: 4
AP: None
D: 1
Ammo 6+
Traits: Rapid Fire (1) plentiful
Cost: 40

I wanted to give them something a bit different to a Bolter or Autogun.

I figure giving them a S4 rapid firing rifle is pretty powerful - Especially one with 'pletiful' (To represent Squat craftsmanship/reliability)
Hence only Damage 1, to hit mods are negative at long, no AP mod, and 6+ ammo roll.

As My squats are using the Venator '2' profiles none are better than 4+ shots (At more than 12" they need a 6+ to hit a target in partial/light cover) - so this, and the fact it will need reloading fairly often should counter S4 rifle spam's effectiveness.

What do people think? Too powerful? Too Nerfed? Recommendations for changes and costs are welcome.

I'd say price is pretty reasonable considering a hotshot lasgun is 35 points with +1 to hit at short range, +1ap, a 4+ ammo and without either traits

What specifically makes you want to use a custom weapon rather than the standard options?

Partly because the Mantic rifles are so unusual looking - & I didn't want any confusion on the table.

Partly because the models are more military than 'gangy' - there were always going to be mostly armed with the same rifle - Boltguns cost is a bit limiting early doors in the campaign - and an autogun isn't very competitive later on - I wanted these guys to be able to compete as an arbitrator force at any point in the campaign without switching weapons too much.

But mainly I just wanted them to have a weapon with a bit more individual character.

:)

I was flirting with the idea of giving them scattershot instead of Rapid fire - But they'd need to be S2 or it'd be waaay too savage out to a rifle range.
