so I’m looking to buy myself a small, bench top bandsaw to go with my scroll-saw. I want a really, REALLY small one (for cutting HD foam) as it’s not going in a workshop ... it’s going in my kitchen. I live in a bedsit so my kitchen doubles as a workspace. Or as my friend says ... I have a workshop I also sleep in.

Does anyone have any experience with 7” or 8” bandsaws? Proxxon do a fantastically compact one, but I don’t want to fork out £300 just to cut foam. Likewise Skil do a nice one (the 3386) but you can’t get them in the U.K.). I’m currently debating between a Triton and a Scheppach as they’re both £109 and I can get either one delivered from Screwfix, but these things are quite big.

Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations for something smaller? Like ... the size of a microwave perhaps???

We have a Clarke CBS190 at work which I've borrowed before for DIY purposes and it's a great little thing. Sits nicely on a worktop/bench. The footprint is smaller than a microwave I'd say, but it's quite a bit taller.

Current price new seems to be around £150.

I toyed with a dremel, but went with a scroll saw in the end. Which just fits on my kitchen worktop.
