Hey everybody,

after playing Escher for a while now, I wanted another gang and went for Cawdor, since...well "PRAISE THA LORD EMPRAH!"

I read a bit online and just build my list, some feedback would be great.
These Cawdor champs are sure something...skills and profiles feel completely off.

Anyway, I wanted to have a support-oriented leader since the kitbash I have in mind is basically a grandpa that shouts around. I do like the crossbow, but it felt to expensive for a starting gang and it´s somewhat pointless without a harness. Otherwise I just tried to get a ton of bodies in.
The plan is to shot smoke grenades from the back so the blunderbusses, the deacon and the leader make it to the front and set everything ablaze. The Juves will just work as ablative armour.

The list:
Word-Keeper: axe, stub gun, r. autogun, mesh armor and overseer

Deacon: Eviscerator, stub gun, mesh armor and unshakable conviction

Deacon: grenade launcher, smoke ammo, scavenger´s eye

3x Brethren with blunderbuss

2x Brethren with r. autoguns

5x Bonepickers with stub guns

It looks decent, overseer is thematic but I would reconsider it here, without a big gun you want to fire twice the primary use of overseer would be to launch one of your blunderpoles up the board. As your plan is to have them advance under the cover of smoke it means your advance party is going to be split up, meaning your going to have to choose who gets to be protected by smoke, and your opponent will get to shoot up the model(s) who draw the short straw.

a specialist with longrifle and scope is usually worth the points.
lots of bonepickers mean lots of faith points(which i seldom remember to use).
welcome to the ranks of the worthy , praise the empraah

I read about it but play against gangs that are much shootier than Cawdor. I just went all in into a ton of bodies and short distance, since I will be losing firefights over longer distances anyway. I could swap one of the blunderbusses against a long rifle, worth it in your experience?

a long rifle really extends your reach , and if you can intimidate your opponant to keep their shooters heads down or even pick off a much more expensive foe , great.
even if you can pin an enemy then if gives Brother Deadmeat a chance to get into contact.
dont forget a cheap axe on the bone picker for that vital extra attack dice.

My Juves will get their axes after the first 1-2 battles, since I wanna go "boys before toys" for the campaignstart. An axe is basically half a Juve pointwise and I feel like an additional body gives me a better advantage in comparison to 2 axes (and therefore 2 additional attacks) until my gang reached a certain size.

Long rifle with scope sounds nice, but how do you play it? Do you combine it with overseer to move, aim, shoot and move back to cover again? A Brethren out of cover would get blasted to pieces immediately against the people I play against. Not sure whether the long rifle is worth using overseer if I could use it to get my eviscerator Deacon into melee twice by doublecharging.
Going for the long rifle would also mean that I would have to drop one of my Juves so I can afford the scope. I am really not sure about this...
Probably comes down to the choice whether I want to use Overseer to build a firebase or to buff my close combat units.

get the long rifle fireing from cover.
but seriously , i play against van saar hitting on 2+ with plasma etc , so i feel yor pain

Don't neglect getting your ablative armour. Wait what are bonepickers again?...

Seriously use cover, smoke grenade spam and do not get attached to your brethren and juves. They are for massing forth and stepping over their bodies. Eventually you get to blunderpole range and once they are there Cawdor can out shoot at close range pretty much anyone as long as you hold your nerve march past your casualties and start throwing down blaze and blunderpole spam. Also the heavy crossbow has a 5" pie plate.

I'd consider swapping the fifth Bonepicker out, in order to upgrade one of the autogun Brethren to a longrifle specialist. Being about to pin things fairly reliably is a big help, especially if you can drop a heavy weapon before they shoot you. You can always pick up a 5th Juve after the first game, to top up your numbers.
