N18 'Forgotten Riches' scenario

I'm sure I've played this scenario before, both as a skirmish and in a campaign (it was one which offered lots of creds!) but revisiting it now reading through, it doesn't seem to make sense and can't work out how we played it.

(1) Objectives mention 'points' earned for taking fighters out of action and collecting loot caskets, but these points don't seem to count for anything: victory conditions are just who secured the most loot caskets.

(2) What does 'secured' mean? This isn't clearly defined, as it is in some other scenarios. It also means that it might be better just to kill the other gang or make them flee, and then claim all the loot caskets, rather than actually playing the narrative.

I'm looking to rewrite it (unless I am missing the obvious to the above two points) with the following changes - does this work? Is there a better way of doing it someone else has tried?

PROPOSAL 1:
Include following special rule on how to 'secure' a loot casket:

Securing Loot Caskets

If any of the Loot Caskets are within 1” of one of the outside edges of a gang’s deployment tile at the start of the end phase, it is claimed by that gang and removed from the battlefield. That Loot Casket now counts as having been Secured by that gang.

Note – only Loot caskets Secured during the game count towards the Victory conditions. If a Loot casket is within 1" of a fighter at the end of the battle, but has not yet been secured, it counts as being claimed for the purposes of rewards, but does not count as having been secured for the purposes of determining Victory.

PROPOSAL 2:
Amend the 'Victory' Conditions and the 'Fleeing the Battlefield' conditions as follows:

Victory

If one gang has secured more Loot caskets than the other at the end of the battle, they are victorious. If both gangs have secured the same number, or neither gang has secured any Loot caskets, the battle ends in a draw.

Fleeing the battlefield

If one gang voluntarily bottles out and flees the battlefield, their opponent automatically claims any Loot caskets left on the Battlefield at the end of the battle for the purposes of rewards – but note, these do not count as secured for the purposes of determining Victory conditions.

Urgh, ignore this, I've just been having a total brain fart for an hour.

Points count towards which leader gains XP.
Securing is defined in the last sentence of the 'objectives' section: on starting tile and within 3" of battlefield edge at the end of the battle.
