New stuff in this color, all other things unchanged from last year because, well, never change a running system.

+++Introduction+++

Welcome one and all, to yet another FYSC! It's the, ah, third one we've done, I think? Time has been weird lately.

The FYSC triumvirate - Man, Cyborg and Duck (M.I.A.) - hereby invite you to continue chipping away at your Cairn of Opportunity!

+++Invitation and Disclaimer+++

Any models or terrain finished in the current month are eligible for entry, no matter when it was started. So if you've already finished a pile of minis since New Year’s, or have some things from December still sitting on the hobby table waiting for that final lashing of wash or paint, make sure to enter them in the voting thread as outlined below!

+++FYSC 2025+++

The mission:

To finish stuff! Any stuff! Half-finished projects from two years ago, new shiny things bought two days ago! Infantry, terrain, vehicles, terrain on vehicles, Scifi, Fantasy, both, you name it!

The entries:
No signup required, all entries are welcome, as are pictures of your progress. WIPs, banter and encouragement go right here in this thread, while finished entries go into the FYSC voting and entry threads, which will be created on the 20th of each month (or as close to that as our schedules allow, we are semi-busy people/transhuman machines).

The voting threads:
These will be linked from here, and we again ask to use them for entries only, and to only create one post per entrant per month. And while we ask that you please do not spam the exact same model several times, multiple pictures for large entries or several perspectives of the same model are allowed. Just use your best judgement!

The votes:
As mentioned above, the entry deadline for painting stuff is the end of the month. The entry deadline for posting pictures of your finished stuff into the monthly thread is the 2nd of the following month. We can of course not stop you from finishing even more stuff in that time if you’re fast, but we do recommend thinking of the end of the month as the painting cut-off for planning’s sake.

After the second deadline, the submissions thread will be turned into a poll, where votes will be cast. After feedback, we have adjusted the way this works to account for numbers of entries. The new formula is “votes to cast = entries -2” with a possible minimum of 1 vote and a maximum of 5. We hope this will level the voting field somewhat. The results will then be reported back here in the main thread when voting closes, no later than the 20th of the following month. You also still get a point for each month you post an entry.

The results:
Prizes are chiefly bragging rights, as previously, and also the satisfaction of having more painted plastic than you started the year with, hopefully anyway. FYSC 2025 will run until November 30th, with crowning of the King of FYSC in mid December. Last year's king was @Tiny , let's see if anyone can dethrone him!

Future FAQs:
As last year, please feel free to ask if there are any questions. FYSC is a free-wheeling sort of thing, and we can and will change things on the fly if the majority thinks it is a good idea, and new stuff can always be tacked on as we go.

Have fun and get stuff finished!

I have some various resolutions for the new year, but the overall goal is to play more games for more game systems, go to more out of town events and to reduce my pile of unpainted minis by more than I did last year. In 2025 I painted 114 models, but I also bought or traded for 49 models, so the net reduction was 65. My goal this year is to improve that - either by painting more or buying less, or a combination of the two.

Concrete goals:

Warhammer 40k
- finish my currently WIP Raven Guard models (Aethon Shaan, Jump Captain, 3 Inceptors, Storm Speeder, Gladiator)
- finish the remaining models from the 9th edition starter box before 11th edition drops (Lieutenant, Chaplain, Standard bearer, 5 Assault Intercessors)
- complete the Escalation League with my GSC (most likely additions are a Primus, Biophagus, Familiar, 10 Acolytes, 10 Neophytes, Truck)
- paint a handful more GSC character models so that I can run a painted 2k army that I am content playing

Warhammer TOW
- run and participate in a Path to Glory campaign with my Warriors of Chaos. This should get me to 1250 pts painted through some combination of rebasing older models, painting up old models from my pile o' grey and some new purchases
- additionally, see if I can rebase enough of my existing WoC to let me run 2k fully painted

Terrain
- print and paint a couple of decent-sized buildings from the Kickstarter I just backed to round out my fantasy battle game terrain set
- have a go at creating enough terrain for a fairly dense fantasy skirmish board, with a possible goal of running a Mordheim campaign at some point in the future...

I also thought I would try out the hobby bingo card that Rob Hawkins created, which is going to be a fun challenge. I'll aim for at least one "bingo" during the year.

First models of the new year, GSC Primus and 10 Acolytes in early stages of painting.

I have unfortunately, due to a string of weird and wonderful health issues (thankfully nothing too serious), finished zero miniatures in December. I've partially done a few mechs so hopefully January will fare better. I'm really struggling to find any motivation to paint at the moment though.

My aim for this year is to actually do less than last year and instead to sell off some old unfinished things and clear some space.

I have yet to paint anything this year as I had a mad productive spell the last couple of days in December.

February onwards will be a Path to Glory campaign for Old World (I'll be doing Wolves of the Sea) and my friends and I are doing a Tale of Painters thing to keep motivated. January is likely going to be a command squad for my 40k 2nd ed army to make a legal 1000pt force. If I have extra time it will probably be some Necromunda stuff but we'll see what happens.

@Tiny Hope your health issues clear up sooner rather than later.

Managed to cross off a few 2025 goals but carrying a lot of them over to 2026. Full post over here: https://yaktribe.games/community/threads/whats-on-your-mind.3498/post-337772

2026 plans:

BFG: Finish building and painting Tyranid (Hive ship, 2-3 more cruisers, a dozen more escorts) and Dark Eldar (about 30 escorts) fleets.
WHFB: Finish Ogres if I can be bothered. Not fussed. Might sell them.
Bolt Action: Finish US Rangers. Half a dozen German vehicles. Indians need another couple of officers to be playable in V3.
Mordheim: Possessed - Build Magos, Possessed, Beastmen. Paint.
Epic 40k: 1 Great Gargant. Battlefortresses. Titans.
Heroquest: Entire set.
Warhammer Quest: Expansion characters.
Battletech: About 50 minis left to paint.
Terrain: Hills. I've never owned any and want some. A set each of modular desert and grey rock hills.

I'm expecting some bits in a week from Poland and in march from er.... benighted Albion for my badzone enforcers,
and I'm slowly sculpting through the models I have, while making bluestuff copies from the old mordheim accesories sprue.
(and soon other re-sculpted weapons)

and I'll likely make another poncho design (just for the enforcers - not the enlisted scum)
see if I can make a 1 layer, more sculpted design instead of a 3 layer design.

Love the Valhallans, @katfezza! I wish I had more time for my Vostroyans, then we could "race" to 2000 pts. :giggle:
Cheers. I have a lot still to work on, but they will probably be a secondary project this year as I'm in a Tale of Painters thing with my gaming group for Old World. Painting Valhallans might be more fun though. I plan to get a squad of Vostroyans to use as Stormtroopers in this army. I already have the Vostroyan Colonel to represent Lord Solar Macharius.

You should definitely get some Vostroyans done whether racing or not. Even just a couple of infantry here and there.

I'm still wondering about including:
-more gunstrings
-who should get ponchos
(so far: not the scum, certainly the snipers and likely all the enforcers)

if someone would like to weigh in... I can use second opinions
I'm using the above pictures to find misplaced and clean up bits of greenstuff, ...
i have a few bare heads with sculpted hair... the heads are not attached atm

the lineup( to allow for a few builds):
1 captain with shield/bolter & 1 power maul or powerfist or plasma pistol
2 sgt with heavy concussion ram
1 sgt with a webber/shield
1 sgt with dual plasmapistols (possibly a shield on his back)
2 specialists with sniper rifles
1 specialist with a grenade launcher
4 bolter patrolmen
3 enforcer shotgun patrolmen

3 shotgun scum
4 melee scum

(somewhere down the line 1 ambot & hangers on)
