Gangers taking over the Gang

Hi Guys, first post on here, but been looking around for a while and i've got a quick question about something within the NCE. At my local gaming club we've just started a campaign and as it happens one of the guys there has had one of his gangers get 2 leadership upgrades putting him at a higher leadership than his leader. In other editions of the game we know that typically the ganger and the leader would fight over who takes control of the gang, however after looking throughout the NCE book and Outlanders we can't find the rule anywhere, is this still a thing and if so could someone point me in the right direction?

I don't think this was ever in the actual ORB or LRB rulebook, hence its not in the NCE. AFAIK it was always a supplementary rule.

Ok so after doing a little digging through the LRB and the ORB you are correct. The rule wasn't in the LRB at all and at the end of the ORB in the FAQ section it mentions it as being a part of Fanatic Issue 1, but it did seem to be accepted at the time as a rule that was practically part of the book.

Although re-reading actually it says that it was an experimental rule that was official as of the 2005 Rule Review.

If it helps it was in the original outlanders book (in the vault copy here anyway), its labeled as 225 although don't know what actual page it is in the pdf. so you might not be going mad @Cynic13th

I also seem to remember it was in the original Outlanders book. Just in case that helps with any push to get it officially added to the OCE :)

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me out with this problem.
First of all I understand how the whole thing is supposed to happen and play out.

My question is what if you have a Van Sarr gang, and one of the contenders is a hand-hand fighter.
My fighter has a WS of 6, infiltration and 2 shock mails.
How is a shoot out resolved in this case if they can use their weapons only?

I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue.

Thank you.

I would imagine you have to weather a turn of shooting from the other guy then charge him... (Going off memory I'd play it like a 1-1 shootout, so after they shoot they are 4" away and ready to charge if they are still standing).

Or just say it has to be combat...

It works the same as a shootout scenario so @spafe is right, he would need to whether at least 1 turn of shooting before getting a chance to charge.

I say at least 1 turn because its the normal shootout scenario using the exact weapons the scenario just finished on. Ranged folk will get a chance to shoot as per the fast draw then may also get to go first aswell.

If theres no range move them as normal incase they break nerve before the 4" and even be out of range to charge!

In any case, sounds like a badass-off!

The CC challengers have only knives, so I reckon the shooting challenge should arm the combatants with only stubguns in a similar way (even if you don't have them on your roster). Sort the men from the boys.

Brings it down to "who's the best shootist?", rather than "who has the best gun". That's what the challenge should be about in my opinion.
