GCE Core Rules feedback and suggestions

I've still got some stray broken formatting to deal with and write some code that pulls the glossary into a separate file so that it can be included usefully.

Awesome!
I've only given it a brief look over, and I would say that it needs some layout adjustment for mobile, but otherwise it's an amazing port of the rules.

If you've got any CSS tweaks, send over the fixes, 'cos I agree that it could be improved a lot. I just don't have enough time to iterate when I don't own a tablet (so would have to try to approximate one with dev tools, etc.).

I have a rules question!

Big Grabbers and Wrecking balls: Do they only hit the side/quadrant that they're mounted on? Or do they technically hit anywhere around the vehicle when you make a ram/rake/sideswipe?

It's implied that they are directional, like boarding planks and everything, but it's not explicitly spelt out that way, and now I'm confused.

"Big Ork Vehicles may fit one Wrecker Ball - pick any of the quadrants described above."

I think the implication is that it only applies to the relevant direction chosen, but this could be made more explicit, something like

"When the Vehicle comes within range to perform a Ram, Rake, or Sideswipe on an enemy Vehicle in the relevant quadrant the Wrecker Ball can be used"

Yah, I was fairly certain that's the intent, but I was starting to doubt, after I had read the original rules of GorkaMorka and they don't have the quadrants for gubbinz.

That's not entirely true. Boarding Planks do:
Up to one boarding plank can be fitted to the front, left, and right sides of a vehicle (so you can have no more than 3 on one vehicle). You must decide which direction the boarding plank faces when it is fitted (eg, Boarding Plank – Front). Bikes can’t be fitted with a boarding plank.

I'll see about updating GCE to be clearer about this as it's a good point. Once I can get our server to understand that no, its hard disk is not full (it's 93% free!).

Question regarding Mob Rating when it comes to Old Battle Wounds, Unreliable and vehicles mothballed in the event of the death of Spannas.

Context for the question->Ganger/vehicles/weapons that are not available due to being held by the Doks/Meks when a Mob is unable to pay for services are temporarily removed from the Mob Rating calculation.

When a Ganger or Vehicle can not be brought due to OBW, Unreliable or the vehicle being mothballed: Is the Mob Rating for the game changed to reflect the decreased overall power of a mob during the game for the purposes of deciding attacker/defender and underdog?

Yeah, Its not clear cut, especially since some scenarios do not allow the full mob onto the field but still count the full rating.
Though that is obviously different than parts of a mob actually being unavailable for pre-game reasons.

While there does seem to be a bit of an anomaly, in these cases being treated differently from OBWs, I think I'd prefer to change this - just have everything count. Otherwise, it starts getting complicated working out what does and doesn't count.

So while on the topic of Mob Rating:

New Weapons and Equipment

Unless otherwise stated you may swap equipment between Warriors between games. Weapons and equipment belong to the Mob, not the Warrior, so if you’d like to buy a new weapon for one of your Warriors you can move their old gear to someone else within the Mob, or add it to the Mob’s hoard to be assigned at a later date. Weapons and Equipment cannot be swapped between Warriors and Vehicles during a battle.
and
The formula for calculating [Mob Rating] is quite simple:

Total experience of all Mob members, divided by ten and then rounded up.
+
Total cost of all Warriors, equipment, Vehicles, weapons, etc..

So i guess hoarded stuff is still under the control of the Mob and so could be seen as part of its "power level", even if not in use.
Which i guess would imply that OBW warriors and Unreliable/mothballed vehicles DO count even when not actively contributing.

Just trying to hash this through :)

Good point on the boarding plank, i think for clarity, you could remove the reference under the boarding plank, or, actually, now that I've written what I have below, you can likely keep it as an example.

Core Rule Book:

Vehicles usually have the option of Gubbinz. If you’ve not spent much time in Britain you might not have come across this rather odd word. It’s a vague term for “gadget” or “gizmo” and that’s what Gubbinz are in GCE. Adding Gubbinz will provide upgrades and options to Vehicles to improve them in some way. (See your faction for specific gubbinz)

When a Vehicle has Gubbinz of some sort, they’re added to their Hit Location Tables and can be damaged during a game. Unless otherwise stated, they’ll be fixed automatically by the time the next game happens.

Some Gubbinz have to be mounted in a specific quadrant. These are the same as the regular vehicle quadrants. The quadrants are not slots. Mounting one Gubbin within a quadrant does not prevent other Gubbinz from being mounted in the same quadrant. Any Gubbinz mounted within a specific quadrant can only affect that quadrant. For example, a Wrecker Ball mounted on the right side cannot swing over and hit opponents on the left side of the vehicle.

The specific Gubbinz available are listed in the faction packs. You’ll also find any number of other Gubbinz floating around the Internet that you may want to use during a campaign.

Gorker Morker Faction Book:

Below are the list of Gubbinz available to Gorkers and Morkers. Some gubbinz are required to be mounted in quadrants on your vehicle, see the GCE Core Rules under the Gubbinz section to see how mounting vehicle gubbinz into quadrants work.

For other faction books:
I dunno, I don't deal with them non-greenskin trash.

Just my suggestion, I'm sure whatever you do will be great.

I agree with your hashed out assesment: it doesn't matter where the vehicle or warrior is. If they are part of your mob, they count towards the total. .

Even if you were supposed to remove them and put them back, I wouldn't. Players are bad at managing mob ratings, so the less they have to manage, the better for the overall game.

I see the logic to counting stuff that's in your stash but then that would suggest that perhaps unspent teef should also count...

I believe there was some edition of Blood Bowl where treasury counted, but think that was removed.

yah it’s not a perfect system but unspent teef can’t go to the mine and get more for you. While boyz who don’t go into battle can.

Unused shootas are just there to tease the grots who ain’t allowed to touch ma boomstick!!

New question: Rokkits and their damage on vehicles

In the original GorkaMorka rulebook it states:
Important Note. Weapon hits only ever inflict a single point of damage to a vehicle, regardless of the number of wounds they can inflict on a warrior.

In the GCE rules, it's unclear how a damage roll is resolved on a vehicle.

I've been following the intention of the original with a ROkkit only dealing 1 damage, but I'm curious if I misunderstood or if the GCE intention is different?

In GCE it states:
When a Vehicle takes a Hit of some kind (from Shooting, Ramming, or whatever else) a location usually needs to be determined (as with most things there’s some exceptions!).

Roll a D6 for each point of Damage a Vehicle takes. Something like a Shoota isn’t much of a threat to the average Trukk but a well-placed Rokkit can be very nasty indeed!
The rules for Rokkit Launchers in Gorkamorka make them a bit... shit. Same with Krak stikkbombs/grenades. The thing they're supposed to be good at is taking on armour and yet they do that really poorly. So we buffed them.
