An actual update! Fixes the 3rd arm issue and also expanded psychic powers

The familiar is dirt cheap for a pretty godlike dodge ability. And it's common too.

On the other note, Demo Charge is now more expensive.

I'd seen the new models, but missed the rules update, so thanks for that.

Nice to see a number of points cleared up/updated. Though I note they still have wargear, rather than equipment.

Two types of leader, one psychic one combat focused. Clearer and slightly cheaper implementation of third arms. The fighter-type weapon restrictions are just gone. Aberrants now have a 5" movement, can use any close combat weapons and armour, but no other wargear, and they can become specialists.

The HWL is expanded slightly, though bone swords and lash whips appear to have been removed.

    Oh my.

Nice to see this has been updated. New models are looking very cool.

This looks proper! You can have leaders with heavy weapons now?!?

Removing the Primus/Acolyte Hybrid leader weapons is definitely a blow.

It's also disappointing that I can't take an Acolyte leader with Wyrd powers in this version. Otherwise it's good stuff.

They have Personal Equipment rather than the small wargear heading.

Ah, you're right, it was the larger category that changed.

But Neophyte Hybrids can no longer have heavy weapons. Now only the leades and Acolyte Hybrids can have heavy weapons, even though these models don't come with heavy weapons. That is rather unusual for GW

Maybe we'll see some errata to fix that soon, hopefully it was just overlooked by whoever updated the rules.

Yes that's definitely a mistake. I guess you would have to merge the good parts from both versions...

I always wanted to get both in the original version, but paying for secondary skill was very expensive! Now I can have 2 and choose good level-ups.

If you lose your adept psyker leader, you can never get another psyker in your gang? So the wyrd power is basically a time limited bonus to fresh gangs? Unless you hide your leader in the corner every game and bottle as soon as any enemies gets close.

Acolytes alone having heavy weapons make sense with Champions from every other group being the only ones who can take heavy.

You can easily make an ‘acolyte’ from the regular box, complete with three arms and weird head.

  17. Well, not really a problem. Now you can have "later generations" acolytes. So in practice a GSC champion can look like a neophyte.

In skill table, is there a mistake for "Specialist - Neophyte Acolyte"? Does this only apply to neophytes who have been upgraded to acolytes? What about non-acolyte neophyte specialists?

"When a fighter is promoted in this way, their Type is changed to Cult Alpha if they are an early generation hybrid, or Cult Adept if they are a later generation hybrid, and from now on they count as a Leader for determining which equipment and skill sets they can access. Their characteristics do not change."
The type changes so you gain access to psyker abilities and are a psyker if you get an adept leading the group. So long as a later generation hybrid takes up the mantle they will become an adept.
