Hello Folks,

as stated in the headline im curious to know if Necromunda only hosts the Cult of the Second Son in Hive Secundus?

I thought about playing an infected Gang or a pure GSC Gang and wanted to design my own Cult.
So to be a bit more in line with official lore i would like to know this first.

Thank you in advance for any help☺️

There would be potentially numerous genestealer cults on Necromunda.

Having multiple vectors for invasion works well, and having different cults operating independently of each other helps keep each cult safe from discovery by the authorities. This is often how terrorist cells work, with isolated groups having limited contact with each other except through a handler, who is in turn controlled by their handler etc.

I've not kept up with the lore from 2017 onwards, but whatever cults are in the lore are probably the more well known/"tolerated" cults who have grown to some provenance on Necromunda; your cult could be some upstart cult with just a couple of guys in it, if you wanted to keep "in the lore".

I'd advise that you read up on older genestealer cult lore and stuff from earlier editions of 40k to get a bigger picture of how they work to overtake a planet, it'll show that you can basically have any number of cults, as while they work in isolated groups to destabilise the local government, they eventually have enough of a mass of psychic activity as a whole to become a full army controlled by the overarching Tyranid hivemind they're attracting to the planet.

To be honest, fill your boots; it's your game, and anyone trying to stop you with "it's not in the lore" isn't playing to the spirit of the game.

I don't know all the lore, but there were GSC gangs in the Hive Primus setting before they introduced Secundus, so I assume this means multiple cults (or, at least, multiple splinter factions of one larger cult, depending on how exactly you individuate them).

The Book of Desolation says in its fluff sections that "up to half" of the genestealer cults on Necromunda have some ties to the genestealer lineage from Secundus. So not even most.

Interestingly, where Malstrain cults emerge in hives and outland settlements they are often in opposition to the more stable strains of the Genestealer plague. From time to time Genestealer spore will be brought to Necromunda on one of the billions upon billions of cargo containers endlessly passing through the Eye of Selene. Sometimes these make their way down into the underhive where they can take root. As the fledgling cult grows it detects the corrupted psychic signal of the Malstrain Patriarch, projected from the ruins of Secundus. As often as not this signal repels the cult, though some do succumb to its call and make their way to the Abyss to be absorbed into the Malstrain cult.

That is interesting!
So beneath the Gang fights we have also......Cult fights and Assimilation.

Very cool, that means i can build a normal Genestealer Cult/Infected Gang and a Mailstrain.

Necromunda gets better and better😁

Thank you very much, for this information.
Now i have to figure out which role my Kelermorph has to play in an infected Orlock Gang^^

But also a Big Thank You to the Others, this helped me a lot.

Going with what others have said, Genestealers usually have several small cliques of cults skulking the underhives of numerous Imperial worlds... Necromunda (And other planets with absurdly high populations) would most definitely have cults stemming from numerous Genestealer encounters! The world is your (edible) oyster for /your dude/ lore.

"The Genestealer Cults gang represented here is small, an almost insignificant off-shoot of a greater whole compared to those represented in Warhammer 40,000. As such, whereas those cults are traditionally led by a Magus or Primus, the cult here is led by a Cult Adept or Cult Alpha."
-Book of Ruin

WE don't have to assume all factions of the same GSC are working in coordination. No more than various Goliath gangs are coordinated, even if all are subordinate to the Goliath House. They fight each other. GSC's could/can fight each other. And fight House Secundus GSC's. It's an urban jungle out there!

There are no such things as Genestealer cults , come to a meeting and the patriarch will show you the truth👽

Doesn’t the lore also say the hive mind looked at Necromunda’s psychic signal and said “umm, no thanks” because of the malstrain corruption? So you could also have genestealer on genestealer action as pure gangs fight corrupted gangs in hopes of purging them and getting the hive fleet to come back.
